BCCI has gone mad..
by Sharad Birajdar on Dec 27, 2006 06:14 PM

Very Unfair.

Badluck Pathan. Fight it out with your performance. We need you in world cup. You are one of the key player

Pathan was definitely doing much better than Sehwag or other players, even better than sachin. He has scored even a century in the Four Day match and was among the among highest score in one days. He could have been a Useful bet as a batsman. I am agree that as a bowler he has not been upto the mark. He could have been given a chance. VENGASKAR has gone mad, he shud have send back sehwag and used Pathan as a batsman. If pathan could ball well in that match that wud have always added plus point.

Let the BCCI then implement the same yardstick with Sehwag,Lakshman etc.

Wasim jaffer is in a team just beacuse he is Maharashtra and relative of Agarkar. BCCI are ruled by maharashtrain, so be aware other states player.

Irfan !
by Vaibhav on Dec 26, 2006 08:11 PM

I never understood the policies of selection commitee. Its something like blaming one person for the India's plight. I beleive that if they really want to adopt this policy, than it is important to give such sort treatment to senior players as well. There should always be a fear among the players of getting out of the team incase they dont perform well. Selection commitee should learn from Dada's example. Its really unfair for Irfan!

Why only him?
by VS Rao on Dec 26, 2006 03:27 PM

Why call only him? What about Sehwag, Jaffar, and to an extent Tendulkar, who are failing consistently. If there is no stability at the top order, there would be imbalance in the whole combination. Irrespective of their past records, BCCI should not only send all the players home, but make them play domestic cricket till they get the much needed confidence.
Performance should be the only criterion for selection and not your past-glory!!

Why Pathan Send back?
by Anandkumar.M on Dec 26, 2006 03:17 PM

Hai,
It is too bad that Pathan was called back to home. Because he has been used for both as a batsman as well as a bowler. He scores a unbeaten century in 1st innings and an unbeaten 40 in the second innings.Inspite of Using VRV singh we can use Pathan in the Eleven. Then send back Mr.Jaffer to Home.He is the only player in India to how to play with bat.Gautam Gambhir can be used.

Why Irfan alone?
by Mani M N S on Dec 26, 2006 02:16 PM

How about Great Virendra Shewag?
Wasim Jaffer?
Dravid himself?
So called and claimed to be Great Tendulkar?

Is that Delhi / Mumbai / Karnataka do not have any Ranji Matches left?

Pathetic.... show.... by one and all... Finally blaming and killing someone who do not deserve in any way.

Sending Pathan back to India
by chinmoy on Dec 26, 2006 12:01 PM

Very Unfortunate.

He is a good player.Who was performing good in the
ODIs? Then why Pathan to be scapegoat?

BCCI does not think that Pathan's failure or any
one else's failure is practically BCCI's failure
BCCI officials are getting paid and may be more
than the players and they shd clarify what is
their responsibility and how they shd suffer if
India team fails to perform?????????

Re: Pathan's plight!
by M. Shankar on Dec 26, 2006 12:01 PM

I think it is really sad for Ifran Pathan that he should be so summarily dumped from South Africa back to domestic (Ranji Trophy) matches, in order to brush up his talent. However much the Mr Dilip Vengsarkar, or Mr Rahul Dravid, or Mr Greg Chappel explain it in sugary terms, I think the confidence level and self-esteem of the young all-rounder would have been badly bruised and dented. After all, as a recent find, he had achieved so much and was a fine all rounder in the making. Suddenly his performance-levels dip, and he is chosen to be packed off. It should be a nightmarish experience for him, on top for a while, and into the dog-house before he knew what has happened. More than that what amuses me is the collective thought that in two matches if he gets bowling practice he would get his confidence level back! We were harping all along that Indian pace bowlers lack the experience on the fiery pitches of foreign soils but now we think Pathan should get his practice back on domestic pitches. Something wrong here! We have top coaches there, and Pathan should have been given rigorous practice working with them, at that level, on those pitches! Too much trouble, is it?
