I think ,Sewag & Irfian will be ideal combination . If Irfan click , he can regain his confidence in his bowling department also . Selector can take a chance seeing his latest performance in practice matches .

He is fighter & will be great assets in future .

Ganguly & Gambhir is best option. Onedayers & Test as well, but WHO can explain to MR. SHARAD POWER, he is the mad fan of WASIM JAFFER.

Colonel, you are bang on spot!It is the opening partnership which must be worrying everybody.I feel that Gautam Gambhir is a good opener and can bat at least the morning session which is required in a test match.Sehbag looks to be out of form and should get some time to come back.Dravid also has not played well and a good innings is long overdue from him.Tendulkar also has to play and shut the mouth of some of his critics.Laxman and Ganguly are OK at their middle order and knows their job.May be Irfan Pathan can bolster the lower order of batting. We also want to see Ganguly taking wickets with his controlled medium pacers. And Kingsmead could be the ideal venue where bowlers like Ganguly can be successful.Well, if we play believing in our potential, Durban could seal the fate of this test series! And that will be a history!

well Mr.Sastry are you from Mahrashtra I have my doubts..I think Jaffer is given enough chances. look into his performance in the practice matches against mediocre bowlers..pathetic..doesn looks good..so although sehwag is not playing good but u cant send him bnack now and pick robin..thats later..rite now Jaffer has to sit out for Gambhir..I agree Sehwag is in poor form but he is still playing better then Jaffer and Jaffer is sound bat doemstic level but u have to prove ur worth..atleast sehwag did it previously to rely on him more than jaffer...time for Jaffer to sit for gambhir ...Well one more thing not related to you I wonder if anyone noticed How arrogant Dravid has become with one win when he Claimed that first batting is was solely his decision and nobody played any part ..that sheer nonsense..I wonder if it had backfired he must have said that its decison of whole management ..senior player and coach along with him..He is heading towards Ganguly ending Much too early..

Bring Robin Utappa for the opening spot.
by DLN. Sastry on Dec 21, 2006 08:37 PM

Wasim Jaffer though failed continuously for the last 4 or 5 matches, should be given further opportunity not only by using Sehwag's yard-stick, but more importantly he is basically a sound bat, and deserves a few more chances. Innings opening is a tough task and it cannot be expected that people should always click. Even Gambhir who is the other opening specialist and gave a couple of sparkling performances in international contests of last year also failed with equal frequency as Jaffer. What we should ask for is that atleast one of the openers should perform well in each innings. With reagrd to Sehwag 'enough is enough' and let him now concentrate on redicovering his class, in domestic matches, before aspiring to reenter the international arena. Finally in my opinion it is high time to consider Robin Utappa for one of the opening spots at least for the next half a dozen matches and if he succeeds continue with him further. The other opener should be either Jaffer or Gambhir.

Dear Mr Vengsarkar,

How you can expect Ganguly to take a wicket without allowing him to bowl more overs. I am surprised why you expect lot from Ganguly only, What about Sachin, Jaffer & Sehwag. Ganguly is good player, he proved. Sachin.... which final he played well, What is his average against Australia if McGrath played in that match. Now Ganguly prooved, when sachin...? Quantity or Quality?
