Ashes debacle

England are themselves to blame for the loss. It all began with the foolish belief that they can win the test by getting the Australians out twice for 550 runs. England was in no position to declare the innings even if they had got 700 runs, for they could not afford to declare as they don't have one batsman who can face Shane Warne in the second innings. Look at their bowling? One is not able to believe that Monty Panesar is not playing. Ashley Giles is not a spinner for he cannot spin the ball an inch, he just drifts the balland he is neither Anil Kumble. So why was he playing? Even a man like Michael Vaughan has a better chance of getting more wickets. Harmison was not in form. The other bowler badly missed was Jones whose reverse swing proved to be the deciding factor in England's win in the last test series. So all said and done Australia deserved to win. England would be well advised to keep on batting and get as many runs as they can in the first innings itself. I would say they are not a good enough side to declare the innings against Australia even if they have got 700+ runs. So if and when they are lucky to survive for as many runs they have to continue batting

Sir,

Australians proved that they are world champions and way ahead of other cricketing nations. Others should learn from them how to play the game in true spirit. Hats off to them.

Media's Role

The win & loss decides by the game not by the press. winners always play positive game. the declaration of english team was very positive than the innings of Astralia was declared to get the result. the media had made up her mind that the match would finish with out result. the first day they thought for the english victory. hense, they cannot digest it. the loss of match is not the end of the series. Flintoff's team may do miracle any day.

Boycott suffering from Amnesia
by Charles Srinarayan on Dec 06, 2006 02:40 PM  | Hide replies

This refers to your article today wherein we quote ....

Former England batsman Geoffrey Boycott said in his Telegraph column: "Make no mistake about it, the Ashes are gone. If you support England, don't kid yourself that they might come back. No England team in history have recovered from 2-0 down against Australia. And let's face it, on current form, this is not a side capable of making history."

In Botham's las Test as captain, England went 2-0 down and Botham resigned from the captaincy. Mike Brealy took over, and a re-surgent Botham won that series for England almost single handedly 3-2

I agree with media. Only dur to poor leadership, england lost this match. There was no magic in Shane's bowling.

I think u shud learn to analyse when u read the media didnt say anythin bout warnes bowling ,well I guess you cant digest the fact that the aussies are world champs and will keep winning for years to come.
Why cant we see the way they fight back and make history rather than pretending every one who loses agianst them was because of bad luck.

Just like Indian cricketers English cricketers are lazy and lack mental strenght.
There is no difference between this England side and our own Indian team. This is just a trailor of what South africa are gonna do to team India.
