ha ha.. dravid and steve waugh..
joke!

dravid doesn't have the guts as waugh had..

if anyone says captain, it reminds me of steve waugh, graeme smith, ponting, akram, imran khan and our own GANGULY..

dravid is a player captain..
but those people are leaders not merely captains!

people who played cricket and made it look easy
but u see dravid struggling working which only shows its not his natural ability..

whatever politics indian selectors make..
they have to admit they'v different stance for tendulkar and ganguly..
if tendulkar can play why can't ganguly play..

its high time indians take control of the game not get controlled by a guy who never knew abt indians and indian cricket!

there is zero percent chance of indians winning this world cup.

You must be from eastern part of India. "Ganguly"? Tell me what Ganguly has done in last 2-3 years. Even in english county matches, in 9-10 matches, he crossed single digit score twice. County leve bowlers are getting him out in not more that 6-10 deliveries and you are talking about him facing bowlers like McGrath, Lee, Akhtar? Forget it pal and stop living in past. He was fortunate to score 10K runs, now it it difficult for hime to score 100 runs in 20 matches.

yeah i fully agree

i fully agree with ravi shastri that its not fair to compare dravid with tendulkar...but if we look at the current form,he definitely scores over tendulkar.tendulkar has been a force for india for the last 16 yrs and everything comes to an end...i feel tendulkar game has also witnessed change..now his game is more of surviving than attacking.

Do not compare please

.........not at least with morons like Steve Waugh. Steve Waugh leadership skills reminds me of shit load of crap like mental disintegration, other word for sledging, ensuring only Oz won by influencing decisions at home against any team especially so against sub continent. This can be clearly seen. No wonder Indians beat the shit out of him whenever he came to India. Because we could not bear him anymore.
Worlds apart, are dravid and waugh in my opinion. I have rarely seen Dravid sledge infact never. He once got angry over grant flower or some other player for allegedly throwing the ball on him. Dravid shows what determination is all about while Waugh shows 1% of what Dravid was like. People in India say Tendulkar failed when we needed him most unlike waugh. (Hoever thats crap because we depended on him in every match until recetly. So out of 360 matches we depended on 300 maches) thats bull shit because waugh failed all the time when they banked on him against all teams except England. Cricketing circles pay a lot of respect to most Oz captains just because they were lucky enough to have the cushion of great players such as warne, mark waugh, mc grath and gilchrist to name a few

AMIT MITRA
DRAVID & STEVE WAUGH
by AMIT MITRA on Aug 29, 2006 08:13 AM

I think Ravi Shastri is absolutely right in Comparing Dravid with Steve Waugh as a Player, but one thing we should keep in mind is Steve Waugh had Captained Australia in 57 Test and had a 82% Winning Record as Captain ( 41 Wins & 9 Loss in 50 Matches which had results) whereas Dravid has led India only in 17 Tests with a 55% Winning Record ( 5 Wins and 4 Losses in 9 Tests which had results ). So,it is bit premature to comment on him as Captain. Dravid, though is bound to improve as a very keen student of the game and always innovates. But a bit too adventourous as his decision to bowl first at Wankhede cost India that Test vs. England. Sourav in this context would be much more practical. I can't recall a single instance in a Test where Sourav's wrong decision had cost India a match in his 49 Tests as Captain. Sourav also remains the only unfortunate Captain to lose Captaincy even after winning a series abroad. It may be recalled that Aus selectors stood up to Mark Taylor at a time when he lost his form as Batsman and did not strip his Captaincy. Taylor paid back with a 334 vs Pakistan. I hope Dravid will not finish his carrer as Steve Waugh whom Aus Selectors gave marching order.

I agree with Shastri.
by Raj on Aug 29, 2006 06:43 AM

I agree with every view of Shastri's in this interview, about Dravid, Sachin, Saurav, Jahir and Chappel.

Dravid has shown the guts and thats what is required in a captain who leads a team that represents country of Billions. I hope these cricketers also read such articles because its really well said and could convey clear message to them.

The comment of Dravid has improved in batting after taking over as captain
by dev on Aug 29, 2006 04:40 AM

So what do you mean by that Shastriji. Before the captainship he was not excellent player or what?

He is not good but excellent student of the game. I think you have not checked statistics of Rahul Dravid over Sachin. Dravid has high winning percentage than master blaster.

The only difference is we always overshadowed Rahul Dravid. Badluck for Dravid.

Hey U are right shastri
by Shivaji Honakuppi on Aug 29, 2006 02:52 AM

Well shastri is right to compare Dravid to Waugh because Dravid leads the team from the front & also he is wall of China where all member can have support & be dependableon him ,also he himself great fan of Waugh hope u people seen waugh giving his red lucky cloth to Dravid on his last test played thanks shastri he deserve that
Well coming to Gangualy & comparing him with Great SACHIN is non sense,we indians allways leave in dream hoping something great from india's best captain.Well i am Gangualy's great critic i have many reason for that Eg 1)Not good feilder 2)Poor foot work thats why he is struggling 3)Poor hook player 4)Poor running betwn the wicket thats why he many player runout 5)poor body language when ever india lost match during match ceremony( watch Dravid for that) 6)poor team member Eg during PAK tour with Chappel & Dravid so on
Gangually played for indian inspite of all these negative because he was captain & he never single handely own single match as captain, well results shows he was good motivator for other not for himself, well i would like to see him in world cup ,hope he fight back on his present skills & not past

One difference betn Waugh and Dravid
by Praveen G on Aug 28, 2006 11:46 PM

Ravi Shastri may be correct to large extent, except with one notable difference between Dravid and Waugh. While Dravid is humble and gentleman in real sense, Mr Waugh doesn't mind abusing mothers, sisters and wives of players of opposing team in most nasty ways. He is also very racist and pigheaded person, which Dravid is not.
