Vengsarkar blasts Woolmer's statement
by N Srinivasan on Aug 27, 2006 06:58 PM

After reading about the subject about Barry Jarman's revelation particularly the tamptering during Woolmer's presence elsewhere in a match, and reading about the reported suggestion of this same Woolmer to scrap ball tampering law, the fingers point out that afterqll Hair was right. Why not unearth from this angle and come with the naked truth.

ball tampering case opf pakistan cricket team, oval 2006
by Basavaraj Kanavalli on Aug 25, 2006 07:36 PM

well, woolmer is not right. he can defend his team in a better way...
I wonder if the pakistani team was really proved to be tampering the ball......
it is true that in the past the ball tampering was more prominent than today but that was because of lack of technical aid to identify the culprit. Most of the reverse swinged balls of yester years were mainly with the help of ball tampering...esp waqar, wasim and imran khan. and in this regard the SA team is also way ahead of others in the world. We all have seen the video of Hansie Cronje altering the shape of the ball with his shoes.
its not fair on the point of view of batsmen..if u want to make it 50-50 for both bowlers and batsmen then there r better ways of doing it...allowing the bowlers to tamper the ball is an illegal way..
increase the fence size..so that the number of boundaries r reduced...or make the pitch to swing a little more than what it does now a days...

"lets make things bette".

Woolmer is right
by Rakesh Narayan on Aug 24, 2006 10:23 PM

He has to defend his teams actions. For years they have been doing this, and you cant expect them to stop ball tampering all of a sudden. How will they win games outside of the subcontinent then. Its quite an art, to tamper a ball without anyone knowing (remember the incident where there was a bomb blast and Afridi was deliberately running on the pitch and KP noticed it). One thing Pakis always lacked was cricketing spirit, no wonder Shoaib bowls beamers to Dhoni. After the Dhoni catch episode Lara seemed fit to join the Paki team. Thats why despite all the talent they have, Pakis are disliked. No spirit... Woolmer is doing well to retain that attitude.
