hair's stubbornness
by Somy on Sep 29, 2006 01:18 AM

hi
Hair has always been considered as a stubborn umpire as he never listens to anyone and sticks to his instincts. This time it was Inzmaam who he had to deal with. Inzmaam is also considered as short tempered and taking him on was the mistake Hair did. I think the the dissent was justified to an extent that pakistan was not given any explanation for any of the penalties. But, Inzmaam took it too far by not resolving on the field or after the match. Pakistan Cricket Board has always acted apathetic towards teams decision.

Ball Tampering
by T S Sankar Raman on Sep 10, 2006 07:46 AM

Umpire Darrel Hair's decision is justified. When the Pakistani,s agreed to bowl with a changed ball it was clear that they had accepted the charge of "cheat. They have been cheats all along and nothing can change their attitudes towards the game of cricket. It is equivalent to the Indian Coach calling Mr Sourav Ganguly "mentally and physically unfit to play or lead India anymore.

Hair wrong doing
by harpreet dilawari on Sep 09, 2006 09:11 AM

Mr. Hair was wrong in this issue. I am never a supporter of Pakistan in this type of tectics but here Pakistan is right. May be Pakistan is accused and guilty before for this (Imran Khan,Wasim Akram etc) act but for now they are scape goat.

If you forget, once half of Indian team in South Africe was accused for such a thing but BCCI was and is so strong to rule them out. Pakistan should learn from that episode and call for help from Asian countries especially India who is bully in ICCI especially Indian concerns are concerned.
Rest is all history. But pakistan should not step back in this matter and fight hard.

Darell Hair
by chandru on Sep 03, 2006 08:36 PM

ICC is dragging its feet over any action against Hair because he is on its panel and it is eay to blame Pakistan or Inzamam. Hair, with his history of controversial decisions against Asian teams was once criticised by even the great Don Bradman. My only query is why did not Hair offer the grounds Inzy for forfeiture of the game and any point of time as is the case with any natural justice. Is it not what umpiring about? Justice! Hair and not Inzy deserves to be disqualified.

not justified
by ravi on Sep 03, 2006 09:25 AM

why did not the pakistan team walk out when the ball was changed and five runs were penalised.
It was not Hair alone there was another umpire too then why only hair is made the scapegoat
all these means that pakistan wanted to hide there mistake by this kind of behaviour
thy could have protested with the third umpire after the end of days play

Was Pakistan dissent justified?

I don;t find anything wrong in Mr.Hair's decision. Whatever he saw he immediately took action on it. Pakistanis are cheaters..everybody is aware of this country players & Imran khan has already confessed that he used to tamper the ball. Waqar has also confessed...Pakistanis r cheaters ..they should be banned...

Rules vs Spirit of the game
by S.N.Iyer on Sep 02, 2006 08:23 AM

According to the rules of the game, Hair( umpires) was/were correct. The umpires are the sole judge if the ball is tampered. By not turning up on the ground for over 30 minutes, Hair (umpires) was/were right in awarding the math to England.

But according to the spirit of the game, Hair should have warned Inzi about the state of the ball and he could have changed it without penalising the pakistan team.

The Pakistan team were wrong in not showing up for 30 mts by their protest. But once they showed up and both teams were willing to carry on, the umpires could have reversed their decision of calling the match off.

Just as players can make mistakes and can be pulled up by the third umpire, even umpires can mistakes and the match referee should be given more powers to intercede and maintain the spirit of the game.

No one to Blame!
by Suryanarayanan on Sep 01, 2006 08:07 PM

As per this issue(Ball Tampering) concerns......
We cannot Blame anyone.. Neither Inzy or Nor Hair to be penalised. Because Hair just followed the ICC's Umpiring Rules... and What Inzy done was quite Gutsy!
For this ICC should find a Permanent Solution....
Otherwise Cricket will not be The Gentlemen's Game!
