Dravid take it easy in Test Cricket
by deep on Apr 23, 2006 04:58 PM

Everybody including me thought Dravid could make a good captain in Test Cricket and not in One Dayers. but we have been proved wrong. Ganguly was a good player in ODI but was more sucessful as a captain in Tests.
the problem with Dravid seems as if he a lot of pressure in the Tests as he is the key batsman. whereas in ODI Dravid knows that, there are better batsmen than himself in the team with regard to the shorter version ofthe game. as a result he plays freely in the ODIs and gets a lot of runs. Dravid needs to trust others in the Test format as well inorder to lead the team to victory in Test as he is doing in the ODIs.

There were not just days, but weeks, months and years when you felt terrible after seeing the Indian team play cricket. but now we feel terrific even when the team loses. the attitude of the team has been wonderful - we will not surrender, come what may. we will give our best. that's what is required in life. it is not the sucess that counts but the effort. all the best Team India. Thank you for making us jubilliant.

West indies Grounds are Small when compraed to others. If we can have ganguly & Kumble around i belive it will be handy.

I am not Ganguly's fan but a man who has scored 10000 plus ODI runs should not be left out from the world cup. lets give him one final Chance.

Options at the top of the order

I have very good suggestion to the Indian Team Management - not that they aren't aware of it.

They have really solved the opening conundrum. That was a big challenge, as it generally is for any international team because if the openers give a good start half the battle is already won.

On batting beauties where the ball is coming on to the bat evenly, Sehwag and Sachin can be sent in to open, and on the pitches like the one in Abu Dhabi, where the batsmen had to grind out their runs, Sachin and Dravid would be ideal. This is not a small issue, and this is an area where we can score over the opponents as we saw it in Adu Dhabi and some of the ODIs against Eng where Dravid lent in some stability at the beginning of the innings only for the later batsmen to take advantage of that.

Not all the wickets in West Indies are batsmen friendly. There are some pitches where the ball doesn't exactly come onto the bat. And not many International teams have this flexibility like us. Like Dravid said, he should try out Sehwag in the lower middle order which will add another dimension to our batting line up.
