Pak win round 1 at Abu Dhabi
by vikram on Apr 19, 2006 11:57 AM

It would be extremely unfair and more than a tad harsh to rain criticising comments on the indian team currently touring abu dhabi. Just a flash-in- the-pan win from Pakistan against a tired and exhausted indian team doesn't tell a lot of stories. Much so because one has to spare a thought for the poor men in blue, who have braved to take on this charity show match, which unfortunately will be counted as an official one-dayer, even after such a gruelling and hot series against england. It has been all but a walk in the park for the indians as they have been playing now against tough teams from almost 9 months ! Starting from Sri Lanka, pakistan, South Africa and recently England ! Mind you, it is not a chess bout, where you only need to use one body part mainly!. Just losing a match here and there doesn't expose their vulnerability in bowling or batting as this is the same team that has brought us undeniable cheer, glory and also has set a new world record in achieving 16 continuous wins chasing. It will only help the cause if we could be a bit more supportive and encouraging to our boys and undermine these small loses.

Team India on losing
by Rambabu on Apr 19, 2006 11:24 AM

Indian team became lazy and crazy. After winning 5-1 series with England they take light on Pakisthan.I think Mr. Captain is not interested to lead for win against pakisthan. It is shame for Team India and Greg chappell for this performance.Pakisthan had done good job.It is better for Team-India and Greg to rethink and reform complete team and ready-set battle for 2nd one-dayer.

How accurate was Yuvraj's throw to get younis run out ?
by franz on Apr 19, 2006 11:01 AM

Giving full credit to Yuvraj's great full length dive & fielding, his throw was not good. it was Irfan's die hard effort that he got the ball in hand after he had to return back from his follow through (which is always difficult for a fast bowler)it is another matter that he did not hit the stumps. All this happened in a jiffy. Please don't give comments which will make someone's good effort to look like a crime. See the replay again - have a nice day !

Poor usage of bowlers by Dravid
by Gondu on Apr 19, 2006 10:10 AM

This is the first time, Dravid did a worst captancy. since it was not good pitch for batting,we (india) have not scored big,but still we had a chance to win thorugh tighty bowling. Dravid failed to use bowling line. He has not used Yuvraj and given continues spell to Harbajan who is incabable and very worst in selecting line. He simlpy completed his spell but not even seen the action and attac of batsmen.

Yesterday's lose in game was purely because of Dravid's poor bowling selection and Harbajan's non length bowling.

Is the series fixed ?
by Indian Supporter on Apr 19, 2006 08:17 AM

Read an "interesting" interview of Rahul Dravid in newspaper a day before this series. He stressed very much that "Even if we loose this series, it will not impact our mental or the confidence we have after winning against England".. How come a teams captain that hv been winning the last series say so ? Instead of boosting the morale of the team to continue with the winning habits, saying that nothing will go wrong even if we dont win this series against Pakistan !! What I mean to hint is that - is the series being fixed well before ??? I am pretty sure, we gonna be defeated in the second match as well...Lets wait and watch :)

What you say ?

Dravid gifted today's match to Pak
by Mehul on Apr 19, 2006 06:32 AM

After winning 4 consecutive matches I think Dravid just gifted today's match to Pak. There was no need to bat first when you know that you have chased run by batting second for 16 times in past. Also run out is a big problem with Dravid and Pathan. They should quickly learn. We have lost most of the matches because of Dravid unnecessarily running for a run when he is well set. Today's match showed that we have a lot of options as far as batting is concerned. I think Sehwag should be back in the team. I don't care about Kaif though. Even if we lose the second match there is no harm. We have already won a series again pakistan on pakistan soil that is good enough.

Pakistan win first round at Abu Dhabi
by Dr.Srijit Das on Apr 19, 2006 06:22 AM

Pakistan has beaten the Indian team by a huge margin. All the credit for this huge loss goes to our beloved coach Greg Chappel.Till now the team was riding high on the individual brilliance and it is horrifying to see an Indian team without a regular opener.Everytime experimenting is done. Why does not the team management give another chance to Ganguly? Greg says that Ganguly cannot remain outside the team once he is selected for the team, but is it not true in case of Sehwag or Kaif? Why were they picked, if at all they were to be kept outside the team in Abu Dhabi? Greg says that Ganguly's performance is demoralising for the team. What about Sehwag and Kaif? Are the other team members not influenced by the inclusion of these flop players? The Indian team went to Abu Dhabi for a match where all the officials and the team members were shown to enjoy. What is the need of so many BBCI members to be present there? It seems as if some festival was going on there.Shame and pathetic!More is yet to come in West Indies tour.Remeber the earlier wins were on Indian soil and now Greg has to prove his caliber on foreign tours.

Team India's true colors exposed
by Soumi on Apr 19, 2006 02:55 AM

Team India\'s weakness and true colors got shamelessly exposed today. Dravid and Chapell have been beating their own drums defeating weaker (Sri Lanka)and beleaguered opponents with half their main players absent(Pakistan and England) for the last season. When faced with a full strength Pakistan team in a neutral venue, Team India was found LIMPING. Dravid was preempting this defeat and so already made statements about sheen cannot be taken away and all. Its a shame that such statements coming from the skipper before the start of the tournament. Just goes to show how insecure and negative Dravid is about the whole situation. Just mimicking aggression never helps. You need to be fundamentally aggressive and that is something inherent and cannot be acquired in time.
Team management be aware. Petty politics is just going to put our team in danger. It will be a shame to see India not even reach the semis in WC 07.
