ODI at Gauhati
by Veerla on Apr 09, 2006 10:36 PM

It's India's hour of shame.

1. Guahati stadium does not look like an international one.
2. We saw people throwing bricks. How they brought bricks?
3. We saw police slamming the lathi on spectators.
4. We saw a polieman lying unconscious.
5. We saw the Calcutta-type spectators
6. We saw the spectators seeking refund
7. We saw the shortcomings of the ACA.
8. TV cameras were burnt.

Can we be wise next or keep insulting our country like this (with
a long list of shortcomings)?

Response:

a. Gauhati should not hold a ODI.
b. Police should behave
c. Police should allow bricks inside the stadium
d. ACA should have a laid-down policy of refund (in fact BCCI
should) in case of complete abandonment OR the match should
be insured for these kind of losses.
e. Full security too the TV crews.
f. No stand by medical teams (for the unconscious policeman)
g. Next time keep the riot police with full gear as stand-by.

The whole ODI is the show of India's lawlessness. Lets hang our
heads in shame.

This is a shameful act......

No wonder that the Indian team is at the peak of their best performance since the time Ganguly has been dropped from the one day side. But I feel that the fans need to behave.

Yes, I do know that the fans were excited and anticipation of a great match ahead, may have been outside the stadium from the early morning. But this behaviour need to be condemned. I think there should be a limited ban on that venue until the crowd learns to behave themselves. This kind of beahviour gives a bad impression of the country and the foreign player may deem it dangerous to play in such conditions.

I am of the opnion that there should be a venue ban of 10 weeks imposed on them by the BCCI.

Vikas

For the Game !
by pipa on Apr 09, 2006 02:56 PM

Hi

The Cricket administrators could consider the following steps to eunsure a full game of cricket who had spent the time and money to come all the way

1. covering the entire ground and not just the center of the ground including pitches and run up areas.

2. Also by making the ground slightly elevated to a higher side so that any remaining water flows out.

This measures would in the first place prevent the field from getting wet. And even it is relatively less wet it could be easily dried up in short time by some sunshine and deploying super soppers.

This would be a much better option than a match being cancelled which does not benefit any of the parties involved be it fans, players, the cricket boards and the sponsors.
