Bedi Shut up
by pari on Apr 18, 2006 10:16 AM

Bedi, for all the respect you earned for playing wholeheartedly, you lost for speaking hollow brainly and whole mouthedly.
hehehehehe..........
U speak a lot of crap, and hence I doubt if anybody would take you seriously even if you talk sense at times like now, that too only about Sehwag and Kaif being rested.

Sehwag must return to basics
by Srinivas Vemuri on Apr 08, 2006 07:44 PM

Here is another gentle man saying that England played worse, not that India played well.

If you observe Indian team, it started making opposition team look like a pedestrian. It happened to SriLanka, Pakistan and now England. SA is the only team to survive us.

Good show by Team India.

I am surprised

Bedi was oneof biggest fan of shewag and hater of ganguly. Now wht happened, Bedi shewag never had basics that are taught in basics , he was different and as long as he was getting runs everyone said great , now as he is struggling because opponents know how to get him with couple of short balls you started him to learn basics. Shewag is scoring around 25 runs before gettting out but What s going on with Kaif, in 11 innings he couldnt make 85 runs with 4 ducks in his belt, but more, Chappel Dravid feel he is future , Lets not forget England Team has no one to bat except Kevin and Flintoff , If they had full team may be scenewould have been different. Thanks to Raina , Yuvi and dravid and mainly Pathan who has saved us.
Even though we are winning matches we are not really at best and playing to b grade team of England , pak lanka , we will have ot see how it is going to be in west indies . We have to prove against big teams out side subcontinent only.
Also it is very unfair with Ganguly, you should give him couple of chances , Dravid dont be calm , its nota agood qualiy , BCCI president , coach , selector they may change in future then you will be duckedevery one will watch thesho

Ban Bedi and Moin Khan from writing again
by Irshad Raihan on Apr 08, 2006 01:40 AM

I've seen some really bad articles in the last few months from these two and it's time they're booted out of the writing entourage. I'm sure Rediff can afford better writers.

Bedi, at least makes sense on some occasion. Like asking Kaif and Sehwag to back to the basics. I agree. But the rest of this article is a bunch of random ramblings. He hasn't taken the time to sort out the thoughts well. I have great respect for him as a cricketer but he's done awfully as an author. But, like I said earlier, at least he makes sense some times.

Which brings me to Moin Khan. He neither has control over his comments nor his English. He's made some ridiculous claims in the past (Sachin can't face fast bowling any more; India are a better team than Pakistan because we can talk to our coach in English!) but his diction and sentence formation is worse than a 7 year olds.

I'm really disappointed in Rediff - there are many many people out there who can write good stuff. If you're looking for author equity, I say have these past cricketers (who don't have a clue about writing articles) dictate to other authors who can then massage their words.

Indian team

Ok the ODI is won.But lets not forget it was against a Team that is England by name, but not by total representation, considering the embattled physical state of its star players.Without taking away any glory of the likes of Yuvraj,Dravid,Pathan,it is preposterous to have Shewag lead the team, since Dravid has to rest.By now Ganguly should have been back, and would have proven his capability in Shewags place, and perhaps shouldered the responsibility of capatincy with equal aplomb.I dont know if I will be around to see Team India perform in WC 2007,but with the likes of Shewag, who it appears has found special favour with the selectors(notwithstanding the behaviour of More)especially Greg Chappell. We will win the rest of the matches definitely,I hope Shewags' performance is not taken for granted. He has to perform. Not in ONE match but everyone of them, like Dravid did,as also Yuvraj.

I do not know why you are so much prejudice about Ganguly. I think with regard to selection of the team his chapter should be closed. With regard to your view about Sehwag, if you go through the records, you would find that although he is not upto the mark as per his previous performances but even today in all his innigs speically in one day matches he has been contributing and most of the time the first wicket is cross ing 50. You can see the last instance, and if in one day match a persone makes and average of 25 runs and keeps the run rate going it is o.k. with him, because the Sehwag type persons can come into form at any given time can be the devils for the bowlers. The Coach is a sensible person and is working on the basis of his farsight for the World cup. With regard to Kaif, I think he has been a scapegoat and is the victime of selectors, who at the time of his good form had been keeping him out and that also to include Gangulay. Therefore, it is Ganguly who has been responsible for the form of Kaif. We therefore, should encourage these outstnding players at this time of their crisis.
Regards,
BST

I agree that Sehwag is not in form and, maybe, should not have been burdened with captaincy. Yuvraj would have been a better choice.

Unfortunately, we Indians always have a 'regional' vision. Ganguly's name has been brought in just because the writer happened to belong to his state. In the previous comment on Bedi's article, someone commented on 'fellow Sardar' Harbhajan Singh. Do we need to resort to religion/state/caste etc in sports, too. Yes, Harbhajan too needs to go back to basics, but does it have to be as a 'fellow Sardar'??

Let's keep these shallow thoughts out and enjoy our cricket.

Kaif & Shewag
by Santhosh D\'souza on Apr 07, 2006 03:14 PM

This is the right time to give the chance to new players. We have dozens of new players in waiting list. We can not carry the burden of Kaif and Shewag anymore. Send them back to school immediately. We do not want any non performing players in our team. There are Eleven players in the team. In case Dravid wants to rest we can select the good performing player in the team to lead the country. Not the junk Shewag (who doesn't even have basic defence knowledge) or Kaif.
