Leak of Greg's letter to the Board
by Nileshwar on Sep 26, 2005 08:24 AM

Greg has had no experience of Board's working. But he should be quick to learn. After all he has to prepare the Indian team for the World Cup.
Some tips:
Always ensure to give the Press a copy of the communications with the Board to stop such leaks.
The Board will make more money to find out how there was a leak by appointing a commission.
Always talk to players and get inside information about each player through the other player. This helps a lot about protecting himself from any damage to his reputation as this information could be used. Infact, he should use this information to make money.
"Ethics are not important, Money is" should be the guiding factor. In case of a scam, use this money to wriggle out.
After losing the World Cup, give out details of his stats as a cricketer not a coach. Afterall the Board wants reasons of loss to make more money by appointing another committee.
No compromise on compromises.
Otherwise sensibly heads should have rolled due to the leak.

poor chappel is new to this country.he wants to impose displine in the team.he wants every player to work hard and play like australians.but today he has tasted the bitter pill of cricket politics.after some months he will come to know about the ugly side of indian politics.
indian cricket players are pampered lot and now with billions behind them are ready to defy any one.media made them demi gods and unfortunately they started believing so.in this country if one has money, power can be purchased and if power is there every thing can be managed.good people like chappel who come to india with dreams to rectify and improve the conditions here may go back with agony.he has seen only one ganguly yet but i am sure he has to tackle many such arrogant players.
right now the board should remove ganguly to send a few warning signals to other players. ganguly dhould have known by now that--- "one should reject the game before the game rejects him." wishing all the best to mr.chappel.

The leak - a joke
by citrus on Sep 25, 2005 08:52 PM

The leak:
the high profile 'confidential' email from the Coach to the BCCI President leaks.

The joke:
look who are leading the nation's sport.

A note:

even a stupid guy like me knows there are better ways to handle confdential communication.
------------your opening lines below-------

your opening lines
'Indian cricket team coach Greg Chappell expressed disappointment that a private and confidential e-mail he had sent from Zimbabwe to Board of Control for Cricket in India president Ranbir Singh Mahendra did not remain secret.

"I sent a private and confidential e-mail to the president of the BCCI. It did not remain confidential though I would have preferred it to have remained so'

Indian Cricket Team
by S.Ramesh on Sep 25, 2005 07:59 PM

Ganguly though little bit off colour in recent times as far as batting is concerned, we should not forget some of the finest innings he has played for India. His record about the captaincy has no parallel in the history of Indian Cricket. Everybody was aware of about of form in both one day games and the test matches. While appointing him as captain after his four match ban, every knew about it. Moreover, while playing against Zimbabwe there was no need to panic about the top order because of the presence of Sewag, Dravid and Lakshman. In such circumstances, asking Ganguly to step down in favour of an inform player appears very awfull. It is a great discredit done to a player of his callibre. Everybody knew before selection of the team about his form. At that time itself he could have been told to quit gracefully. I am very much pained about the recent developments taken place in the Indian Cricket.

Great Effort by Greg
by kaykay on Sep 25, 2005 11:34 AM

Hail Greg! Great effort from Mr Greg. This is a win win situation for Indian Cricket. Even if Chappel is not around the pressure will be on Ganguly to perform himself or have a graceful exit.Ganguly will have to bat competently and plus he will have to lead the team tomorrow. Plus the character of the Board has come out in the open with leakages to the press.

The Best Thing to happen to indian cricket will be to drop Ganguly. Dalmiya faction should lose the election and Sharad Pawar should win. The icing in the cake would be the appointment of Sachin Tendulkar as Captain. We need to be sane to understand that Dravid is not a one day player.

With Greg Chappel we can be sure that only the BEST survive in the team, No one should be in the team for their past performances and we should be unemotional about it.

leak of chappel''s e mail
by muralikrishna.v on Sep 25, 2005 10:38 AM

dear sir'
this is a serious matter.
a document which is confidential and private
is leaked out deliberately by someone in the bcci
office for obvious reasons.
whoveer it is shoulod be punished.
we take things lightly and for granted.
we should be ashamed of the recent happenings
at bcci and the sooner it is resolved the better it
is for the country.
infact bcci should be happy that a thorough
professional like greg chappel is at the helm of affairs.
his methods,approach, anlytical ability, coupled
with unmatched cricketng sense will keep
our cricketers in goodstead.
i have nodoubt that he will guide them well and
bring laurels to teamindia the lost glory.
iwish him the verybest.

M V Subramanian
Chappel as Coach
by M V Subramanian on Sep 25, 2005 10:12 AM

The recent outburst of Chappell is nothing new. I was expecting this for a long time. From the day he was appointed as Coach the media was after him and he also obliged them by giving interview every day. This was not the case with John Wright. Wright was unassuming and was able to get along well with the team. He didn't have the charisma of Chappell but was able to produce results whereas Chappell is now concerned about his market value and that is the reason he is giving statements every now and then. He is trying only to build a case that he is not to be blamed for Indian Team's failure. We don't need such men at the top. It is like a School/College admitting only those students who have scored 90% and above and making them score 97-98%. The success of a teacher lies only in training students who scores 30% and making them score 60%. The same is true for coaches also. It is true that Ganguly has not been performing of late. But before he is axed let us find a coach who can get the best out of our cricketers and not one who wants to dictate indian cricket. In the interest of indian cricket it is better to get rid of Chappell before Ganguly.
