VISION 2007
by Ashish Subba on Sep 23, 2005 05:26 PM

The job of the coach is to coach a team given to him and not get involved in the selection procedure. If Chappel thinks that he is starting from a scratch, then he is taking away the hard work put in by John in making India a formadable team. Anyway there will certainly be a change in the leadership in Indian Team and it will not be a surprise to me if Ganguly is sacked from the team forever. What a sad end to such an exciting player's carrier. We indians have a short memory. Well done India. Another command given by a foriegn coach will be followed. India will never learn from its past.

Chappel has spoken as a thoroughbred professional. A professional who was long needed in Indian cricket. If our cricketers call themselves professional cricketers, then they should abide by the demands of the profession. We,ordinary mortals abide by the tough regulations of the companies for whom we work. Why should not they? Nothing in life comes easy, certainly not success. To have powerful people behind you, even if you fail several times to deliver, will not help in the long run.
People expect you to perform. Perform or perish..as the motto of number of companies in India. A certain Ganguly should keep this in mind.

Kudos to Indian Coach

Atlast a performance appraisal system for cricketers. Interesting to see how objectives and measurement criterias are getting developed & assessed. Few things have to be kept in mind
1. Frequency of evaluation on the objectives
2. Timely feedback to the players
3. Providing defined time for the players to improve

May be after every series they should have to identify the bottom 10% and pass the same to the players. And if any player who comes in bottom 5% in two consequtive series is dropped, player who comes in bottom 10% three times in a year is dropped. This could be measured for one day and test separately.

Kudos to Chappell for getting some structure is evaluating a players performance.

One of the great news i red today that is Greog's email to BCCI.

Hats of Greig. U r straightforward guy and u have written good statements in rediff news. what a idea u have abt players and players Fitnes. and Greig is having Vison of 2007 worldcup.every word in his statement really wonderful. and he clearly explained to BCCI the current situation of Indian Cricket Team and the Ganguly's behaviours in the team divide and rule. Now right time for BCCI to take decession against Mr. Ganguly (our so called Captain)
