Ganguly rift
by Satiishh on Sep 18, 2005 12:03 PM

It is time Ganguly packs his bags and Chappell instills more discipline in the team which is a must. Scoring 101 of over 260 balls against Zimbabwe is nothing to be proud off.

ganguly should be given one more chance
by prasanna on Sep 18, 2005 09:41 AM

i think ganguly should be retained skipper till india returns from zimbabwe.what greg said it was right, but
but till tour is over ganguly should be the skipper,
it is right thing greg did ask ganguly to quit,as he is not in greatest of form,by which the whole team goes down, but still india managed to win first test, the same spirit should see the team to win second test match and win a series abroad in many years, hope that team india does it in a great style

Chapell and Ganguly

For very long now, Ganguly's place in the Indian side is shaky. He has not performed either with the bat or ball, is a poor fielder and clearly his reign as a captain is nearing its end. His century against Zimbabwe is absolutely no guarantee that he has returned to form. He's in fact a liability as a batsman with his propensity to run partners out. That 23+4 record speaks for itself. He still cannot play the rising delivery and any good pace bowler can make him look like a beginner. He needs to be sacked immediately after the Zimbabwe tour.

The ''said'' & the ''Unsaid''
by C.N. Shankar on Sep 18, 2005 05:47 AM

I read this piece twice to see what Ashis AShukla is trying to tell us. Could not make out who are those 4 Players who travelled with Greg. Was not the Manager supposed to have the travel arrangements organised and "Shepherd" the Boys as one "Herd"? Are these 4 Players more Loyal to Greg than to the Indian Team?

From what is said it appears that both Gavaskar and Sastri are more inclined to believe that Ganguly is the one to be 'faulted'.

There is no Guarantee that Ganguly can score another Century at Harare if Greg were to say again some thing that is very provoking to him.

No harm in following the Australian ways by sending a Selector. But here again what is the guarantee that Ganguly will not find him to be 'partisan' if he is not from the East Zone! What we need is TWO Gregs to get Ganguly to behave.

Well Done Greg
by Radhakrishnan Nair on Sep 18, 2005 01:21 AM

Great. Hope the players and the selection learn from Greg's action. He is a visionary and has a larger picture and vision for Indian team. Here individuals are not important. He is 100 percent correct. Why should a non performing Ganguly be the captain and permanent member of the team ? That too, when scores of young talented cricters are waiting for a chance. I feel Ganguly's time is up. Thank You Ganguly for the services for the Indian team. I wish the political parties in India will learn a lesson from this episode. Thank You.

BOLD ENOUGH
by PBASKAR on Sep 17, 2005 11:52 PM

Dear sir Chappell is very bold enough to ask (if that is true) Ganguly for step down from the captaincy.
When board and selectors could't do anything against Ganguly atleast Chappell could do something.
How long Ganguly will continue as a Captain since he
is best on his form or captaincy. There is not necessary that because of his previous regards he should continue as captain. See from next month onwards there is lot of cricket we are going to play and this stage India should chose better captain who is in form. Thats all. Thanks

Ganguly & Chappal???
by E r Singh SD on Sep 17, 2005 11:31 PM

Sir,
It seems Chappal is doing the job assigned to him. What wrong has he done?Does it mean that Captain is above all ?Or Saurabh is expecting special treatment at the hands of master ?or Does he expects special treatment being the most successful captain ?Whatever he may think or dream is not possible.Infact whatever Greg might have asked hime to do so is the real feeling of Indian masses.Saurabh should forget about past laurals and improve his form both as batsman and bowler, otherwsie day is not far when he sill sit out which is very usual.

Ganguly Chappel rift widens?
by Anandrao T R on Sep 17, 2005 10:36 PM

Ganguly was absolutely immature, not only that he seems to feel insecure about his captaincvy but een his place in the team in the light of his resent form. Even the hundred the ther day was a laboured one.

Further from the comments of Gavaskar and Shastri, it seems he does not have many supporters. There are many people like me having doubts about continuing Ganguly inthe team even as a player. His track record as the most successful captain can not be carried forward or stretched too much and too far. It is only fair that serious thought is given to his suitability to be in the team on his current form.
