Ganguly The Pride of India
by powi on Sep 16, 2005 08:58 PM

Ganguly is the person who was instrumental in making Team India.
He is the fastest one to get the 10000mark... more faster than Inzamam or Sachin.
Everyone at one or the other time steps down from team or they are taken out. But this is not the right time for Ganguly to step down. After two years may be he will opt out and even for the sake of Indian team he must be in the Indian team especially when a senior Player like Sachin is not being available. This is also because keeping in view of the performance of Indian team without Saurav in Srilanka that I am commenting.
Patches were there for every big cricketer. Ganguly is in one such period. He will come back and make the Indian Image fly High. He is a LEADER and more than that he is a MOTIVATOR.

Jai Saurav Jai Jai India...

Ganguly was asked to step down
by virendra on Sep 16, 2005 08:48 PM

should have been kicked out long back, we all are talking about sucessful captain but can he alone win a match for India it was due to team India, had it been some one else he would have been thrown out long back. Batter late then never Tiger your days are over dont count on your century against Zim,if you have self respect you can move out your self & make way for other or else you will be shown way out soon.

Re: Chappell's hidden agenda
by Srinivas on Sep 16, 2005 08:07 PM

This is about the article published on Cricket. I can say Ganguly was foolish to talk about it in the media and TOI is foolish enough to make it more public. I don't understand why do people think that Chappell has a hidden agenda. If you remember Sunil Gavaskar saying "we have to get some players out of their comfort zones", that is exactly what Chappell is doing. When he said either Yuvraj, Laxman or Ganguly that their time is up in the Indian team, they responded with Centuries. Does it mean they don't have commitment to the team's winning cause, but are selfish to hit centuries only when they are in danger of losing their place?
Well, there is a comment in TOI article that Chappell is doing the job of a Selector. I don't think any body who is following cricket more closely, would not know how efficient our Selectors are, to be called as Jokers by Mohinder Amarnath. They are biased towards their zone and have an insecurity about their own job and do what exactly some people in the board and the zones want them to do. Now, given that our Selectors are spineless, what can a Coach do, when certain individuals need to be told that either you perform or make way for another player. Selectors won't do that. Captain himself is not performing. Nobody in the board can dare to talk against the captain. So, coach dared to do it. Now can the author of the Article tell what was wrong in a Coach doing that. As so many Cricket lovers of India can ask Mr.Ganguly to step down, why can't a committed Individual and more responsible person than the article author and me can ask the captain to step down?

I think it is better TOI not to publish these kind of rubbish articles.

Ganguly need to step down from captency
by Madhu on Sep 16, 2005 05:57 PM

As Ganguly is not playing with full of confidence (may be due to another role of captain ) He should leave the captaincy. And also it is already proved so many times that he is not good at setting fielding.

Ganguly as a captain kabhinahi
by Rajesh Nair on Sep 16, 2005 05:44 PM

There are two things that Ganguly did wrong first of all he made a team internal discussion public and second one that he made it look as though it was wrong.
If you take a survey now in India today, you would find 99.99% of the people even his hard core followers would want him to step down especially when his personal performaces are trickling down and affecting the entire team performance. Its better for him to prove his metal and then get back to lead if he gets the chance to do so.
