I am partly agree with the ratings. I think Ajit Agarkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni should have been given a higher ratings. They performed well along with Mohammed Kaif and Yuvraj Singh. Ganguly's form has hit the bottom. We keep waiting for his good form but it seems it will never happen. I think the selectors have given Ganguly enough chances it is now time for the board to act tough and replace Indian skipper with some new fresh talent in the team. The better the BCCI act is better for the benifit of Indian cricket. So the two Test matches against Zimbabwe is the last opportunity for Ganguly to score runs otherwise the selectors will show him the exit doors.
I perfectly agree with the ratings... Barring few minor changes here and there, it is perfect...
Coming to Ganguly's ratings that is causing so much brouhaha and off course a lot of kolkottans are up in arms against it, guys tell me for how long can a player be in the team just for captaincy or rather lack of any one who is able to don the captaincy... If he is such a great captain, he should have been able to motivate the team to win atleast one of the so many matches... but that is a different story... Incidentally, me and one of my fast friends, off course from kolkata :), have been having this debate for over 2 years now... and finally he too relented after this defeat... one defeat too many perhaps. Its a high time Mr. Ganguly that you think your preferences... and please dont flaunt your 9000 runs again in you defence... thanks for those and u were suitably rewarded as well for those... captaincy and a lot of leeway with the way you wanted to lead the team... but its time to move forward... if at all a rules of cricket were changed some day to give bonus runs equal to a percentage of the past runs scored by individual team members, then you would definitely merit selection :)
I think the report is biased and too hard on Ganguly. After Kapil Dev it's Ganguly's captainship that has given India some respect. I don't think Dravid has it in him..how he can be chosen as captain if himself is not performing with the bat..he can't bowl either..
i dont know why the people r blaming the cricketers, instead we have to blame the BCCI and selection panal. If the Board and selection members are in right attitude ,then there will be no probs. The BCCI has to set some rules on the players, i mean for every player they have set up some strict rules. For a batsman they have to say like ,suppose for 10 matches your score should be certain amount,if u wont score we will pay only half of ur match fee and we will not allow you to act in any kind of advertisement and same for bowlers..like this way ,BCCI has to invent some new strict rules on players.
- Ganguly, Agarkar should leave the team permanently. They have been given far too many chances.
- Send Yuvraj, Laxman, Nehra, and Zaheer back to domestic cricket to regain form.
- Mohammed Kaif is a good captaincy material and we should give some serious thought about cropping him as a captain. Sehwag can be a good vice captain. For Test matched, Laxman should be promoted to a Captain, and Sehwag as Vice Captain.
- Here is my 14 member team for ODI: Kaif(C), Sehwag(VC), Sachin, Yuvraj, Dhoni+, Amaya Khurasia, Dravid, Hemang Badani, Pathan, Abid Ali, Balaji, Gagandeep Singh, Harbhajan, Murali Kartik
- And last but not the least(although this may not be possible) remove Greg Chapple and bring back John Wright for ONLY 6 months ALONG WITH Sandeep Patil and within those 6 months John Wright can do a transition to Sandeep Patil and Sandeep Patil can take over as a full time coach after the 6 months.
