Our Shame - Player's Delight
by Somnath Sengupta on Sep 07, 2005 08:43 AM

It is about time that all Indian Cricket lovers stop watching TV on the day when our so called fantastic cricket team - MEN IN BLUE - play an International Cricket match. The reason is very simple - result is very much known well in advance and the only point of interest is whether our revered captain can get himself out of an eternal bad patch.

It is also time that the Government steps in and forces BCCI to take the following steps:
1.No cricketer should be allowed to take up personal endorsement contracts of any value
2.Stop live TV or Radio coverage of India's matches in India for all channels and radio stations
3.Player's fees cut down by 75% and paid only when team wins.Pay half the amount if there is a draw or a tie

What I am trying to say is take the money away from the game and see the difference.Today it makes no difference to a cricketer whether the team wins or looses. They are equally delighted with their Crores in the bank and party away all night even after badly loosing a match. The arrogance and non chalance associated with money must go. Tough situations call for tougher action.

Sachin,Sourabh,Rahul,Sehwag - shame on you guys. You all have killed a noble game.

Another final defeat !
by Raj on Sep 07, 2005 06:33 AM

We don't have the killer instincts to the likes of other teams such as Australia, England, New Zealand or Sri Lanka. The main reason for loosing crunch games is that we crumble under pressure. While other teams play big games like any other game, Indians definitely have at the back of their mind that they are playing a big game. This must change and Indians should play every game with 100% efforts. We also need a quality spin bowler like Muralidharan or Warne and lots of self esteem for our fast bowlers. I hope Chappel can induct all these in the Indian team and bring along some Aussie team culture too. Even if we loose, we should make sure that opposition has earned the victory against us and not that we have just gifted the game away.

Kiwis win with much to spare

Well the all too famoliar stort has repeated itself yet again, I ndia choking in the finals.
It is abouttime that the captain is replaced. In the first instance there was no need to replace Dravid after just one series in South Africa. Ganguly does not have a birth right to lead India whenever he is available to play. He should be thinking hard whether he deserves a place in the team at all.
Greg Chappel has his task cutout, if he has to make any impression as a coach and build a team with World Cup 2007 in the offing.
In a way it is good the way India is performing, because that way there will not be the most unnecessary media hype, when the World Cup comes along and it better to go as under-dogs than the supposedly \'favourites\'. I wonder if we still remain at #7 or do we go down further?

India messed up a final as usual. The article keeps mentioning the fact that the pitch didnt assist the fast bowlers. But then are these progessionals? Shouldn they have something called as "commonsense" to switch over to line and length like the Black Caps did?

And the less said about Harbhajan, the better it is. He seems to be in the team more for political reasons than for his cricket. Keeps on blabbering about a special or magical or something delivery, part time spinners do a better job than him and now he pales in comparision to even somelike Daniel Vettori. Should be DROPPPED PERMANENTLY. More or less a useless performance from the Indians.

Yet Another ''Final'' - Collapse
by Prakash on Sep 06, 2005 10:20 PM

Today Batsmen did good job to put a decent score on board, but the bowlers failed. How long indian selectors going to depend on Harbajan singh. What he is really doing in one day matched
What Harbajan did today in a crucial match where the part-time bowlers Sehwag, Yuvraj singh bowled well. This is what he is doing in recent matches. Continuing Harbajan is meaning less in oneday matched.

We have to use the concept super sub effectively. Today where Venugopal Rao is replaced by Harabajan. Is Venugopal is having the calibre for oneday matches who always spent time just blocking the ball sometimes and who mostly get out soon without giving any trouble for the batsmen. He is not at all having potential to rotate the strike.

Before changing the indian team, Selection should have been changed. On what basis they are selecting players, God Only Knows!!!!.

Indian Batting chokes
by G.Chandrasekaran on Sep 06, 2005 06:03 PM

Indian batting choked once again- not a surprise. At least they managed to score 276 runs facing bowlers like Bond, Vettori etc. But see the reply!! I wonder what is the job for our coach and the Captain!! Don't they ever tell the so called pace bowlers that speed is not the criteria but proper line and length are the key to success? Do you want me to believe that these bowlers, who consider themselves heroes, can't think during the match? Or what is the Captain doing there? As long as everyone plays well and the team wins , he is praised as the best Captain. Has anybody guts now to tell him what is what?
Our Bowlers lost the world cup and now this. They consider themselves great- my foot. Let the captain know that he can't just be a dumb man in the field; he has to pull up his players some time which he fails to do every so often
