Yuvraj's innings
by Madhukar on Sep 05, 2005 05:55 PM

Yuvraj still doesn't have the kind of footwork which will make him successful against teams like Australia, England or other teams which have really good bowlers. And everyone knows that the pitch on which he scored his century two days before didn't offer anything to the bowlers. There's still a long way to go for him before he can be counted among the best. Hopefully, he will live upto our expectations.
Wishing him the very best of luck.

Sourav should be dropped
by Suleman on Sep 05, 2005 05:02 PM

It has been ages since ganguly has performed in a one day match. Though he has scored 22 centuries and one of the prolific run getters in the indian team, he depends only one/two strokes, a square drive in the cover and point region or square cut. once the opposition blocks that area with world class fieldsman placed at that region, then his weakness is expose. This is not a captain's standard. It is only because of the captaincy he is still in the team. Dravid should be made the captain and an young batsman can be included in Ganguly's place. By all means Ganguly should be dropped.

Yuvraj has always struggled against big teams
by Sumeet on Sep 05, 2005 02:39 AM  | Hide replies

It's easy getting runs against weak teams like Zimbabwe and West Indies. Yuvraj has struggled a lot against better teams like Sri Lanka and New Zealand. He still doesn't deserve to be in the team, some new youngster should be given a chance instead of him. He's simply too inconsistent, especially against big teams. I think we have seen enough of him, he should be dropped. It is because of non-performing players like him and Ganguly that the team is struggling. Both should be dropped!! Lets see how Yuvraj does in the final.

Hi sumeet

Yuvraj is a coolheaded person , You can't expect him
to score 50s & 100s in all the matches .

Dinemsh Mongia should be given a chance again .
He was so consistent for a long while
I really wonder all of a sudden why he was dropped ?

Thanks
Ganesh
Thanks

SPOT ON ! (RE:Yuvraj has always struggled against big teams)

Absolutely true ! His two "wonderful" hundreds this season have come against second string Zimbabwe and West Indian attacks ! He can't play quality bowling of any sort, we've seen enough of him - it's time he's sacked.

Mr.Sumeet, it is better said that "it is easy for people to talk then do it" you are one such person, i wouldnt sack yuvraj for not playing for 10 games, this guy is just 23 and had only 100 matches on his belt and mostly he comes at number six, do you know any player in the world who is having more 35 as avg at no six, there were some few but not all, he is just a match finisher. talk more about ganguly, i accept your thoughts about indian captain, he was a delight to watch, now he is worthless since he is struggling to play even against the weak teams, he should be temporarily sacked untill he shows some good performances back in domestic cricket. that will make even the big star cricketers to realise that if they fail they will be pushed to play domestic matches.

this is the best way to tackle a problem and not yours, by going on sacking players u wont get a team india for next 1000 years for sure.

Hi Ganesh, Dinesh Mongia played very badly in the World Cup, but Ganguly & Wright for some strange reason selected him for all the matches. God knows why. I guess the selectors got so sick seeing him play that they don't want to take him anymore!

Vinod, I was a Yuvraj fan before and after his comeback, but I don't feel he is playing consistently these days. Just because he comes in at no. 6 doesn't mean that he should be allowed to play forever. Don't look at the averages, Ganguly has done nothing in last 3 years, still his average is 40+. Yuvraj still doesn't make good use of opportunities when India loses a few quick wickets.

He can be a hero on his day, but fails miserably when not. You need players who can consistently score atleast 25-30 in each match rather than say 100, 5, 15, 10, 6, 12.
