srilanka face another rout
by s.srinivasan on Oct 28, 2005 10:10 PM

There is not much to be enamored by indias victory
I would have preferred the captain of our team to have given batting oppurtunity to lesser experienced players, considering the poor score by srilanka, instead of Tendulkar . It would have given a good chance for the less experienced players, to show their playing skills . To chase a paltry sum total by srilanka, a Tendulkar was not needed. His expertise is called for only for chasing a large total. His mere presence in the team is enough moral enocuragement to the teamto perform well as we have seen in Nagpur .

India's second victory
by Varadarajan R on Oct 28, 2005 09:54 PM

It was again a convincing victory for India against SriLanka.
However there is a concern that during the final overs Indian Batsmen ( mainly Yadav and also Sachin) struggled a bit against Muralidharan. I think they were not able to pick the Doosras of Murali eventhough I believe Sacin can easily overcome this.
By the way, if I remember correct, Murali was warned earlier not to use his doosra - which turns like a leg break - since it was found that the angle of "Bending and straightening" of arm, was found to be more than the acceptable limit.
Can anybody clarify this?
I do not understand why the TV cameras are not showing the bowlers from the other side from where the action can easily be viewed.

super sub rule
by anuraja on Oct 28, 2005 09:23 PM

"India could have well opted to use Agarkar for his spell of ten overs and then had him replaced by Super sub Sreesanth, who could have exploited the helpful conditions, but they chose not to.\"

Super sub rule says that the super sub replacing a bowler can only bowl whatever overs remain for the bowler who is being replaced. So if agarkar bowls 10, the super sub see santh replacing him cannot bowl any. This is why choosing sree santh as super sub wasa bad decision by dravid

The articles mentions "India could have well opted to use Agarkar for his spell of ten overs and then had him replaced by Super sub Sreesanth, who could have exploited the helpful conditions, but they chose not to.". If I understand the rule correctly that statement is NOT valid. If you are replacing a bowler who has bowled his quota then the replacement is NOT allowed to bowl. If the bowlers bowls less than 10 overs and gets replaced, then the supersub can bowl the remaining overs to a combined quota of 10 overs or maximum allowed in the game (possible due to weather or crowd (:)) related problems.

India deserved to win

It was one of those display where India showed to the world that it is no pushovers. The change in captancy has put in a new blood into the team spirit and it shows on the feild.Great Display of Bowling by Pathan and he has displayed his ability to move the ball in both directions and the weakness of the Sri Lankan batsmen. Wishing the Indian Team all our support for Jaipur match and rest of the series.

Super Sub Rule

You are confused about the use of the super sub. If Agarkar bowled out his 10 overs, he could have been substituted by Sreesanth, but Sreesanth would not be allowed to bowl. The only way Sreesanth could have bowled is if he replaced a player who hadn't bowled out his quota.
