Indian Captain
by Asok Ray on Oct 21, 2005 05:41 PM

I would like to share my view in this regard that aCaptain apart from his personal contribution in runs or wicket he should be well conversant about team work, Total involvement, Motivation, Communication, Dedication, intelligency which definately can turn the situation in worst case and considering all these uspects, I believe It is Ganguly and not any one.

Whether or not Rahul Dravid a right choice
by Shyamal on Oct 21, 2005 05:40 PM

Team India should have persisted a little longer with its best captain ever Sourav Ganguly as a captain particularly after his knock of 100 in Jimbawe and first series win outside India in so many years. Before coming to Rahul\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s choice as a captain, I would like you all to see the grit and determination as well as fighting spirit of Ganguly to score a century even before a weak bowling of Jimbabwe while facing the greatest pressure of ouster by courtesy Chappel telling him before the match that it is the end of the road for him. The never say die attitude during the now famous Chappel- Ganguly spat also shown what sterner materials he is made of. Now that he has overwhelming victory in terms of grit and determination while fighting for his life in the green grasses of Rajkot left entirely for chin music by Dalmia\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s betenoire Niranjan Shah et all, he magnificiently fought back scoring a scintilating century as described by the same Media (including rediff) who the other day predicted doom for him like the failed fortune teller Kunjilal of Betul the other day. Now you choose for yourself who is who in Team India ! Who s

Is Dravid right choice ?
by kalyan on Oct 20, 2005 06:40 PM

Yes, because there was no other option. Dravid is the senior most player after Sachin and Sachin having faced the music of being captain of Indian Cricket Team, is no more interested in the hot seat.Dravid certainly deserves the hot seat by virtue of his seniority and experience. But is Dravid a ODI player at all? I think he is very good Test player, but not a ODI player

Only one matter is to be watched now. Who is actual captian - Dravid or Greg Chappel (behind the screen).
Dravid has prove this.

Regards
Kalyan

selector please clarify
by malay on Oct 20, 2005 04:39 PM

Dear Selectors, you all are being appointed to select a team for India thinking everything. It is not question of most successful captain and successful batsman. You all must clarify it that under what circumstance you have appointed Dravid as a captain. There is no doubt Dravid is very good batsman and also a gentleman. Is it becoz of performance? Now you all must clarify what you all expect from Ganguly,to score 100 and hit sixes in every match.Just compare last few matches among all the best batsman and you will find your answer.

Further, have you all ever heard it, a captain who was very much successful in his last tour, being sacked from team as a captain and as a batsman. If itis not,it is the moral duty of you all to clarify your stand, failing which people will doubt it is the result of ganguly- chappel war and you all have lost thinking power like gangulys batting form.

we all love cricket, please do the good thing for the indian cricket.

Right Choice
by Bhaskar Rauthan on Oct 19, 2005 06:54 PM

Dear All

Finally the selectors got it right this time.
Dravid was brilliant in the Sri Lanka tri series even though the series was not won.

It was unfair to Dravid after stripping down his captaincy for the Zimbabwes series.
All the best Dravid. You deserve it.But score a little faster though!

Dravid is the best choice
by Dr. K. Mallick on Oct 19, 2005 12:36 PM

Ganguly had his moments of glory and agony. At the moment he does not have that old touch. His entry to national team via captaincy is like a back door entry.
So far as Dravid is concerned, his captaincy can be judged only when he leads the team at least more than 25 to 30 times and that, too, without Ganguly in the team.
The national selectors have delayed his selection by more than one and half years. A superb fighter, Dravid is the best choice. The country wishes him good luck !!!
