The World x1 show was really pathetic.It was the worst ever Team selected comprising full of batsmen.It is horrible to see players like Inzamam,Fleming,shane Bond not being selected for the world Team.
I expected australia to win it 2-1. But alas it was a white wash. The main reason why I expected this is because how much ever strong the world XI may be, they had never played as a team before, and it is bound to fail at some point. On the other hand Australia is a cohesive team that has players who played together for years. Cricket is a team game. Even after this result they should play such series more often so that they get to play a lot as a team and against a team.
The results aren't really surprising. Australians have proved beyond any doubt whatsoever that dedication, hardwork, commitment AND teamwork pay off.
Indian Board would do well to learn a lot from this series and take earnest steps in the right direction.
Its a pity our players/board officials seem to revel more in petty politics for selfish gains and keep the interests of the game aside. WILL WE EVER LEARN AND COME OUT OF THIS RUT? SIGH.......
Austrialia has something to prove to the world whereas the rest of the world after the loss of ashes but what has the rest of the world has got to prove? No wonder, then, some if not all the 'best' of the rest played far below their standard!
Th team selection for World IX is by and large OK, but nominating Pollock as a captain is a bad move! Afterall, unable to calculate even the required run rate for Soth Afric he has faultered and was discharged from Captancy! If so how he can plan a strategy in the modified new rules of One day with Power game and Super sub to do justice to his job? Elementary!! And why both for One dya and Test, the Captains shoud be from South Africa only? Flming from New Zealand would have fit very well for the captains slot of I day matches. Great Gavasker and other wise men faultered in selection of the CAPTIAN for One day matches! Umasutarao
