Surav

The point is not if Dada created a team, nobody debates that point. The problem is his personal form. Agree every batsman goes thru a lean patch but then atleast you can be an awesome fielder and bowler. I think Saurav took it more as a family owned business. I would love the hunger and nick come back and see those massive sixes if he still has it in him ???? Million $$ question...

rather disheartening

I wonder what made the selectors name Ganguly on the test squad...only shows there's strong politics in Indian cricket. His performance as a batsman has been less than mediocre for a long time now, and including him in the team is like fielding only 10 players. With all regard for his contributions to Indian cricket, I should say that a player of his calibur should have a dignified retirement rather than a contoversial exit like this. But, after all, its upto him to decide his retirement, no one can force him to do that. And people should understand that we can't sacrifice the team's interests by keeping him in the team as a token of our appreciation for his past contributions. I think the message should be clear,'if he doesn't get the runs, he is out'. and Laxman should lend an ear to that as well. (I congratulate the selectors for kicking Laxman out of the one day squad).

Ganguly Return
by Thangaraju on Nov 25, 2005 11:41 AM

This is merely a politics. It is weird that nobody come to street to stop this kind of attitude. All guys watching the cricket in the street tvs, and at home and we used to great feel when we lose or win. And now we are doing good and Ganguly is in to spoil the mentality of people as well as coach. Selectors are politicians. This has been proved and no media is reporting even about this.

Kiran more told the he selected as allrounder, and he has not got any pressure from outside to include him. But he also told that Ganguly name came to him to select as all-rounder. May we all know where and who forwarded his name???

sanity out the window
by Akshay Bhandari on Nov 24, 2005 10:24 PM

wow...ganguly's selection has shown that Indian cricket is still not all about the performance but about doing favours here n there...only if poor Zaheer Khan knew this...he needn't have performed so well recently in the domestic matches...
just cause ganguly takes 2-3 wickets he is taken back with the tag of batsman allrounder! haha! Zaheer bent his back and proved that he is in form by taking 25 wickets..& he is left out! ganguly's selection is sheer favourism and nothing else cause he did not do well in what he is primarily known for..and guess what dear selectors its his batting which should be considered and not his bowling. There have been no consistent performances from the ganguly bat which point towards his returning to form...his selection beats me guys..I mean I've been completely bowled by this decision..its insane its ridiculous..its absolute politics..
although I will never get over this senseless selection..let me tell you what happens now that he has been included..
1. none of the team members will be comfortable..ganguly has this attitude which cannot be seperated from him...you kow the prince of kolkata attitude
2. we will 101% loose the matches.......cntd....

Fresh Beginning or The End!

I think we should not forget that Ganguly has played a Big hand in building this present Indian team.
Does anyone remember an Indian team that could have won test matches abroad in that last 15 years before
Ganguly became captain.

Well, Sourav has been given one more chance and I think it is only fair that our best and most successful test captain was given a chance. Whether he makes use of it or not only time will tell. But, seeing the way Sourav has fought back many a time.. I think he will make his critics eat their words.

Dear Mr Kiran More,
We still remember how scrupulously, besides being a mediocre wicket keeper, you managed to get into the Indian team by getting Syed Kirmani dropped. Do you remember?
Anyway while we find you in a different role this time, unfortunately your performance so far has been found to be of much worse.Your some current decisions suggest you to be an spineless & confused person like appointing Dravid as test captain without considering the future(one would have preferred Sehwag or Kaif to be Test Captain), bringing Ganguly back into the test side that too for a single game(what exactly you would like to judge?)etc .Do you recollect that couple of days back while announcing Dravid's appoinment as Test Captain, you informed that you were not happy with ex captains performance for last couple of seasons.Surprisingly next day,you were justifying his inclusion in the team by saying he is an all rounder.Mr More please do not try to justify this goof up, you should have the courage to tell what made you to decide like this. Is'nt it?Here is a sincere advise for you Mr.More- please do not get yourself dwarfed by the coach and his henchman or else quit.

Ganguly Contribution to Indian cricket is unforgetable. The Matter of fact is the team
with which Rahul Dravid is playing was build
by Wright and Ganguly. People forget the time
when ganguly took over d captaincy in 2000 wen tendulkar was captain. The team was in total disarray
no player performing. PEOPLE USUALLY FORGET THIER PAST
VERY QUICKLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully the selectors have done this to allow Gangs a last Hurrah. While it is all well to talk of Gangs not making it on merit, this is not the first time this has happened and this is not the last time either. Still remember that when he was selected for the English tour when he made his debut, there was strident criticism and even I had my misgivings. Gangs proved all his critics wrong and the world got to see his divine offside play. Do wish he would prove all his detractors to be in error. My personal take is that emotionally I am all for him being in the team though my left brain says otherwise. I also keep thinking that maybe he should be allowed to go out with grace if he fails the test. Wish the India team and him all the best!

N. L. V. IYER
exclusion of Zaheer Khan in India XI
by N. L. V. IYER on Nov 24, 2005 05:31 PM

Dear Sir,
It has now tight job/ headache for the Indian Team selection committee to select the Pace Bowlers right now. Of course Zaheer is a good bowler, there are stiff competition by fast bowlers for the entry into the Indian XI. for e.g. Ajit Agarkar, R.P.Singh,Irfan Patan, if anyone gets injured, then Zaheer or Ashish Nehra will be getting an entry into the Indian XI.

We can just wait and see,as good fast bowlers cannot play in all the matches, most of them are injury prone and requires replacement.

Regards

n.l.v.iyer
