Tendulkar's days are numbered too...
by ANINDYA SHARMA on Nov 23, 2005 01:31 AM  | Hide replies

No doubt a master batsman, a rare talent in cricket, a good person, an idol to millions, Tendulkar is no longer a performer. The selectors should make a note of this point, and not reserve an honorary spot for him in the team forever. Tendulkar too has to perform for his place in the side, and performance on the field should be the defining yardstick, and experience, and mentoring skills, and persona, and presence should come into consideration only after performance, and performance does not mean peformances 5 years back, or ten years back, peformance means recent performance, the same yardstick by which Ganguly is ruled unfit to be selected in the playing eleven. Just Tendulkar does not make India a team, it is all the eleven players, judged by their recent performances. Tendulkar's prime is over, and he is beset with injuries that constantly need to be tended to and mended. I doubt he will be able to perform in a consistent way again, and needs to be give way. But, I support one thing for such a player as Tendulkar as well as Ganguly or any other - give them a proper send-off, don't humiliate them, for they have done then country proud. The same cannot be said of Chappell.

dear sirs,
Sachin is great and should be remembered as
a greatest player in cricket history. But
he must with draw from onedayers where he has
set an unreachable record and concentrate on
test cricket to set unreachable records,He must
take this idea from Warne whois setting
records in test cricket.

Tendulkar

There is little doubt that Tendulkar has indeed been a great cicketer & has immensely entertained spectators & enthusiasts.
2.However, if he yet again fails to strike form then he should make way for a newcomer, even if temporarily until he regains form in domestic cricket.
Even Soldiers decorated for valour have to retire sometime!
3.How about giving Sourav Ganguly a chance?
4. Both Sachin & Sourav have catering establishments in our largest Metros. May be they 'll have to devote full time to their businesses!
