Hi, I have seen a person in hyderabad bowling at a speed of 155 kmph consistantly and been tested using a speed gun and i was surprized to see that we are still searching for fast bowlers.
It is laudable that there is scouting for fast bowlers in the country.But one should not get carried away just because some one hurls the ball at 140kmh. Fast bowling is an art.It involves speed,variety,accuracy,swing,bounce,cut,angle,patience etc.If speed was the only criteria then the current crop of West Indies pace bowlers like Tino Best,Edwards etc who bowl at around 150kmh would have been the world's best. But they are being battered everywhere as they are erratic and wayward.On the other hand a guy like McGrath who bowls only at around 135kmh has the best batsmen the world over in a knot!Look at Kapil or Hadlee or Botham who did not have express speed but their controlled swing undid the best batsmen of their time. The idea in India should be to take pick pace bowlers with potential, work on their fitness and technique so that they emerge as complete fast bowlers and not just as tearaway speedsters spraying the ball all over the place! Indian pitches can be a gravc yard for fast bowlers so one needs guile and control in addition to speed to succeed.

I would like to know,how can i move ahaead from now to prove my talents and fulfil my dream of playing cricket for highest level. I am must be thankful to you sir.
It should be understood it is not only the speed which would be the factor for a good fast bowler.
Following other factors shall also be kept in mind while considering a fast bowler as a future prospect. - Ability to bring the ball steeply up from a near good length spot - Ability to consistantly land the ball on the seam - Having full control so as to pitch the ball at the desired spot - Good height (More than 6' 3"), strong "Shoulders and Chest" and long "Bowling arm and fingers"
Please remember all the above mentioned factors are the qualities of McGrath, one of the greatest fast bowlers. So... if you are looking for future "Indian Fast Bowler(s)" look for all the above qualities apart from SPEED. Also it has to be remembered that a 16 year old has not yet attained his full growth. So a family background (Gene ?) should be checked to judge such youngster's would be physical strength.
