It is always good to look back
by Rishi Tiwari on Nov 23, 2005 02:37 PM

It was nice to see and hear Ganguly , I appreciate his talent and spirit . As a sports man he should not say anything but he should make others realise what is his importance in the team INDIA.

Sourav should capitalize on this opportunity!
by Avishek Mishra on Nov 21, 2005 04:35 PM

Ganguly's poor performance with the bat led to his ouster from the team itself. Now, if he gets selected, chances for
which look bright, he should capitalize on the opportunity and let his bat do all the talking. That is the only way through
which he can cement his place in the team. However, if he fails to deliver, he can sit back and relax thinking his days
are over. The choice, clearly, is his.

What role Tendulkar is playing ?
by krishnakumar on Nov 20, 2005 07:49 PM

Question

Whom would you love to envy most and why; Mahatma Gandhi, Bill Gates, Mother Teresa, Amitabh Bachchan or Sachin Tendulkar ?

Answer:

Today it could be Sachin Tendulkar because hes the only person whos talked about and is getting everything right from attention to endorsements to money without doing anything - on or off the field !

Ya! But

India Inc. gave Mr.Ganguly the due respect for his contribution as a player and a captain. He for sure was rewarded well by the endorsements. In the last two years, his record has been average both as a captian (after world cup) and a player. Under his helm the team's graph has been downward. In a competitive environment, a person is chosen on the odds that he/she will deliver. It seems that Ganguly's batting weakness has been figured out by the opposition and the odds that he will make a effective contribution are stacked against him.

If one were to look at Steve /Mark Waugh, or the way Pollack was removed from captaincy, Indian selectors have been patient. These teams are doing better than India. Time has come for a change!

With the team performing as well it is, Ganguly realizes that his window of opportunity is shrinking. Ganguly should learn from Dravid, the way Rahul has developed himself into an effective one-day player. Instead of pointing to statistical records, such as ~1000 runs in 16 matches, he should focus on improving running between wickets and fielding.

Indian Cricket Management will give him a chance and its upto him to show value to the team.

''Rahul Dravid is doing a great job as captain,'' - Ganguly...
by Dr. Cajetan Coelho on Nov 20, 2005 01:48 AM

Fine sentiments expressed by Saurav in the above report. Saurav and Rahul have been cricketing legends of our time. Together the two have changed the face of Indian cricket. Our best wishes to them in their cricketing careers in particular and in life in general. May they keep on serving Team India for many years to come. The amount of energy they have is incredible. The two have faced bowlers of all types in every cricket playing country. Much has been written about these two heroes for years. Whatever people decide to write, it only acts as tonic for these superhumans of our era. They keep practicing their strokes come what may. The "Bengal Tiger" and the "Bangalore Wall" are stubborn and fearless. To many of us these are virtues that will see Saurav and Rahul even beyond the World Cup 2007. These two along with Sachin and Laxman are artists who cannot be easily written off by all and sundry. These four Indian heroes along with Sehwag have chased the fielders and terrorized bowlers without showing any mercy. World renowned bowlers and agile fielders from the cricket playing world will never forget the deeds of Saurav, Rahul, Sachin, Laxman and Sehwag. These are our Indian heroes.

Silly Excuse
by Adi on Nov 19, 2005 09:05 PM

Now that Ganguly has been rightfully kicked out, he is just saying these things to try to get back into the team.
When he was in the team, he never showed flexibility in accomodating himself in the batting order, always wanting to come in at his convenience. Yhere is no place for him, not at any position in the current team.
Best wishes team india.

all the players are saying out side like this but when ever they come back they do not try to do as per their commitment.
that's why we have to make a special rule for them.

Prasannaa Ganesan
role in the team
by Prasannaa Ganesan on Nov 18, 2005 12:17 PM

Ganguly is primarily a batsmen who can just bowl a bit on bowler friendly pitches or in overcast conditions. The statement he has made about taking 14/15 wickets in a domestic competition and scoring a 100 in one of them seems incomplete to me without him having to mention that he disturbed the scorers to add a wicket to wickets column of the scoreboard in two innings in succession.

It would have been nice on his part to say " having just got a pair in the last match , I will need to compensate that with a pair of tons to claim a place in the indian team." Till then he should have remained silent like what he has done so far since he was shown the exit doors.

I being an ardent fan of Ganguly, believe that he should work harder and score more runs in whatever chances comes his way. There is no substitute to scoring tons of them.
