ranatunga eat your words
by shrikar on Nov 12, 2005 10:41 PM

eat my shorts. thats what bart simpson would say.
but really i think these rankings are relative to that particular series. a few years ago india were the no 2 side in the world. so do not talk about indias problems, sort your own problems and atleast let your team put a bearable performance in the test series.

Ranatunga's article is excellent!
by UMASUTARAO C on Nov 10, 2005 08:05 PM

Dear Sir,
The article by Arjuna is hitting the bull's eye. He has wonderfully analysed the strong and weak points of the present change of scenerio in Indian Cricket under the stewardship of the Gre(g)at Chappel! His english language and expression of things are simply marvelous! I am clean bowled with his narration. He did not hesitate to appreciate the plus points of the opposition which is a great quality. Congrats to Rediff for bringing in such great articles by great legends in Cricket.

The Arjuna Ranatunga column

Yes,indeed India have been outstanding with Sri Lankan team. But the kind of surge and spikes we have witnessed in their performance in the past, we still carry a little scepticism at heart. The real test of Indian team's prowess will be when they meet England, Australia and Pakistan. For now kudos to them. But whether it is due to Greig's coaching skills or Ganguly's banishment or Selector's new-found wisdom, one can never be sure. Let's not theorize but wait and watch.

Arjuna Ranatunga on India Srilanka series
by Sunil D. Yande on Nov 10, 2005 06:36 PM

It has been a pleasure reading Ranatunga's column - not only because India is winning and he seems to appreciate that, but the finer points he brings out and a level-headed dissection of both the teams he clearly puts across. It should provide a lesson to all cricket columnists.

Ranatunga is a cricketer at heart (not merely a cricket enthusiast) and literally pours his heart out in analysing each player. That compassion, knowledge and intensity gives authenticity to each of his comment.

With malice towards none, he is on the side of good solid cricket - and that is what matters. Regardless of the teams playing, it is the level of the game that matters more. And that is the point to be taken by the Indian team. It is not necessary to win each game. But, if you put in 100% and demonstrate skill, dedication and application to the job, cricketing fans everywhere would be happy for the game.

For Ranatunga's sake, I wish Sri Lankan team will find its mettle soon and give a sprited performance in the upcoming test series.

k
winning!!
by k on Nov 10, 2005 03:19 PM

It is good to see India winning consistently. However one remark from Mr.Ranatunga looked a bit edgy for me...comparing kaluwitarna with Sehwag...I agree kalu was a nice player but he is not in parallal with Sehwag in terms of say classy batting and wide array of shots..
Sehwag is surely not converting his 30/40's in high scores as rightly observed , but I believe we still need to persist with him and once he gets his concentration thing sorted..he will be on track with the best...
