WELL THE CRICKET IS AT STAKE
by Raghav on Nov 09, 2005 09:23 AM

I ardently feel that match fixing couldn't still be ruled out of these matches. There were allegations against some lankan players before they came here. But now all went somewhere, nobody knows abt it.
Now secondly esp in the fourth ODI many eyebrows were raised when Atapattu didn't use his strike bowlers when Indians lost Dravid's wicket and the game was at even-stevens..When chaminda vass had 4 more overs why was he completely neglected??coz one more wicket Indian tail was exposed.

Serious if we remember,Indian cricket was in doldrums before this series with all the poor performances and controversies..we are aware that most of the great enthusiasts of cricket stopped following
it.Now just imagine had the indian team lost this series too ..It would hav been the greatest negative impact on team India,,esp the kind of intensity shown by spectators here would have been lost for sure.
Now as the series is sealed, the lankans will get a chance to prove a point, coz they cant return with very bad results...now they hav every chance to make it 3-4...and go on winning note, so that even their supportors dont loose value for the team.

i'll continue this.....

hello
i did not understand whats the problem of mr. greg and selectors.

now the condition is for players they have to perform on domestic matches for thre performance and fittnes. if u see this condition then ganguly and zaheer are in a right direction. so what a problem of selecters to select ganguly and zaheer. they are eperience . i think in this stage we want both.

Kaif replacement comes as right move by selector
by Anand on Nov 08, 2005 03:15 PM

I think this is right move my giving Kaif a postion in 11 who deserves it againts Venu Gopal Rao.Here are the few Points support this.

1> he is brilliant at fielding much more better than any one especially Venu.

2> Good Middle order batsman, also have lot of experince and have played few match winning knocks

I don't see why he should not be taken in

L.G.DAS
TEAM INDIA
by L.G.DAS on Nov 08, 2005 01:52 PM

Hi
It does not matter how much a player score, selectors should look that, whether a player be a match-winner as well as a good co-ordinator. That's why most of the leading cricket teams choose allrounders. All are getting reactionary with one defeat from Srilanka so as Indian selectors. I think in 5th match Yuvraj Singh might be useful in stead of Swehag. And if Kaif is getting back, why not Saurav. Give him a chance at least. He will be most useful not also as a player but as a consultant to Rahul too at this stage. Rao & Yadav must not be out of squad in the middle of the series. They have to be repeatedly used in the series, unless due to pressure they cannot show their natural play. And one thing more to say, if the selectors are taking the score into account, please see in 5th match, there was two hundreds in Indian side, but not a single century was in Srilanka side; results came only from the contributions, which is still lacking with India. Had Yuvraj Singh scored only 20, the equation would have been changed.

Dear Chappel, Please Look into the matter.

Team Selection for 6 & 7 th ODI
by Atul Patil on Nov 08, 2005 11:40 AM

Yuvraj Singh contributed only 45 runs in all 5 ODI

played. It is surprise to see his name in the list.

Selection of players to be done absolutely on the

current performance & not on the past records.Kaif's

selection is welcomed. Youngsters to be given

opportunity.

Thanks

BImal Karmakar
what is the policy of Indian Cricket board
by BImal Karmakar on Nov 08, 2005 09:35 AM

Dear,

No player is indispensible in this team. Every player should be given a fair chance. If a player don't performe well for last five matches he should be dropped and other should be given a chance. so instead of yuvraj sourav should be given a chance

Not a good replacement for Kaif
by Raj on Nov 08, 2005 08:02 AM

I am not sure why the selectors are never up to the mark! To continue with Sehwag to me is completely wrong!! Especially after Gambhir has scored a century and Tendulkar is doing well plus he is a huge 'inspiration' for the youngsters in the team, according to the coach. Kaif would have easily fit in the team had the selectors left Sehwag out and rested Yuvraj Singh for the final two matches.

What we need to understand is that its more important for the selectors to encourage youngsters rather than pleasing the oldies in the squade. Sehwag at the moment doesn't deserve a place in the team and I would have personally liked to see him carrying drinks. You can not use him as a lottery ticket!!

Sorry mates, I just never agreed with the Indian selectors and I am more than convinced that they were wrong in replacing players this time for sure !!

More ! Speak out!
by Dheeban on Nov 08, 2005 05:35 AM  | Hide replies

We do not run the cricket system anywhere near as the efficiency professional sports is run in other places like Australia, USA, Spain, etc. Before Ganguly's captaincy every Indian team had the defeatist attitude well-written on its space. The toughest thing to change in sports is the losing culture. That toughest thing normally requires the great collective effort of the sports body, team organization and team players. But in India, I need not say anything about BCCI. So Ganguly was worth the highest praise in turning that around and building a competitive team with winning attitude out of a bunch of no-namers. He just had Sachin and Rahul and the other eight were no-namers. It is in this context that Ganguly assumes so much significance and his building of the team inspite of such a spoiled organization corresponds to a very special contribution and achievement. I would say in a way his batting got affected by this huge captain role. That is why he deserves all the more reason to be given a place now so that he can concentrate and get back his batting that once was. In a way,Indian cricket is the reason for his batting dip. What's being done to Ganguly is horrible.I am no Bengali

Well said Dheeban,

I am the guy who has earlier posted my views with subject entitled: "Ganguly's issue: An open secret!!". Well, i am no bengali too. But one thing is quite clear that selectors are going with Chappel. And i just wonder what is East zone selection comitte doing, i feel they should be more aggressive and should go to the extent of boycotting. I still can't understand the reason behind selecting Kaif and Ganguly omitted...and Why the hell no senior colleague is in support to Ganguly... Its pity that people have such a short memories. Well one thing is for sure Indian team will see his loss for sure...

Mr. Kiran More! Explain clearly Ganguly's omission.
by Dheeban on Nov 08, 2005 05:17 AM

They said Ganguly could not be picked as they did not want to change the winning combination. Now how come Kaif gets a place back? I do want Kaif back in the team. But I am questioning the selectors' wisdom in dropping some one who was the captain a month ago. Did Dravid make a case for Ganguly's selection? I am pretty sure that the reasons for Ganguly's omission are not related to cricket, but to some rotten politics. I ask Kiran More to clearly explain Ganguly's omission. He said earlier not wanting to disturb the winning combination as the reason. But that clearly contradicts the selection of Kaif and VRV Singh. BCCI officials and selectors cannot take the cricket fans for granted. They have an obligation to be transparent and explain their actions. I cannot see why it would be difficult for some one to explain what they do if they are right. I haven't seen any explanation from More. I am no Ganguly fanatic. I am an ardent Indian cricket fan and Indian cricket owes a lot to Ganguly as a captain and player. He was not given a solid team like in Aussie set-up, he rather built a team from no-namers and instilled the sense of belief in them. We can be more grateful to him than this.
