Winning - the Way of Life!
by Aurijit Sarkar on Nov 06, 2005 02:23 AM

I must say that I find this attitude of treating the rest of the matches as inconsequential to be highly surprizing. I have to disagree with all those people who think the remaining matches are of no concern any more.
Just think about it...
what is better? a final tally of 7-0 or perhaps 6-1? or is it ok to let the Lankans leave with a tally of 4-3?
I'm sorry, I cannot accept the latter case! And I definitely don't think the Indian team should accept it either.
In fact, I would be sorely disappointed with a tally of even 6-1. The idea is to win repeatedly. I want a 7-0 scoreline, and nothing else shall satisfy me.

Defeastist attitude of Indians!
by Kavin on Nov 05, 2005 03:37 PM  | Hide replies

What India as a team achieved in this on-going series has been tremendous. The author of this article has written that the remaining three matches, "are going to be otherwise inconsequential matches." This author is not alone. I have read quite a few articles and some of the writers have the same attitude that that series is dead and buried. This runs quite against the 'commitment of excellence' espoused by Greg Chappell. Why can't Indians, especially the so-called expert writers, think about winning all the remaining matches and going for the kill. Why should the matches be viewed as inconsequential? Do they mean the players should play carelessly or lose the remaining matches?

This has been the attitude of Indian cricket team for decades. After winning a few matches, they relax and tend to become complacent. Why can't we challenge ourselves as Australia who once had gone to win about 12-13 matches on the trot? Why can't we set ourselves higher goals and stay unrelenting in our approach?

It is time writers such as this author instilled optimism and challenge in their articles and not dish out negativity such as talking about inconsequence.

I totally agree with ur view Kavin....THat is the major problem that india is facing..complacency...thats the reason why team-blue is not able to rise from the ashes time and again...we have seen numerous series before where indians perform well and get defeated during the end of the series. thought the indians have sealed the series on time, we need to be very careful to guard ourselves against complacency....

Indians were never lacking in talent.Infact they are the best in terms of individual talent...But they have not believed in themselves for long and they have always had attitude problems.....

Lets iron that out...if we wanna win the 07 world cup

Its not as if the team is going to lose matches reading these articles!!! Let these writers write whatever they want! I am sure the team wants to go for the kill and sweep the series!!!!
