though this is a very good indian team beautifull results still there is shortage of a good lefthanded batsman if GANGULY is recalled that will be the answer for the shortage of good lefthanded batsmen in the team afterall he is the one who has fighting spirit into the INDIAN TEAM and we should give him the last chance to prove himself worthy enough to play
While report on "Dhonu storms to new record - Nov 04, 2005" has lot of statistical data, I think two tables (1) Highest batting averages in ODIs and (2) Highest career average for keepers in ODIs do not make sense. You can not take such small sample (with only 23 innings) to compare Dhoni to others. I am not discounting greatness of Dhoni. He indeed is a genious and brave cricketer India has currently.
In order to be considered great, one needs consistency and you have to take players who played atleast 100 innings (20 innings you have chosen seems too low).
In fact for all reports and tables, have a standard min number of innings in order to compare players. By adjusting number of innings, not only you skew the report, it may show misleading information.

hi friend you said 20 matches seems to be to low but i let you know one thing still he is consistent with bat and the last innings he had played was a classy and chanceless one ......and 183 is a world record in chasing sometimes one team cant get those many runs . my dear.
dhooni is simply great now we can think that we have a good wickwt keeper who can bat as well.we are proud of you dhooni.being also from ranchi i really feel good.keep it up.we are with you.
We judge the player by the av of the players. The av. of the player goes up with the number of not out he has in the total no of innings . I guess we need to get another data by taking the average per match without taking into account the not outs and getting the list of the best . See how this works . Avg Batsman For   ;Mts Inns NO Runs&nb sp; Hs 100s 50s   ; 0s Average act 53.58 & nbsp; M Bevan Aus 232 196&nb sp; 67 6912 108* &nbs p; 6 46 5   ; 35.27 10 52.73 M S Dhoni Ind 23 22 7 791 183* & nbsp; 2 2 1 &nb sp; 35.95 9 47.62 Zaheer Abbas Pak 62 60  ; 6 2572 123 &n bsp; 7 13 2 &nb sp; 42.87 1 47 V Richards   ; WI 187 167 24 &nb sp; 6721 189* 11 &nbs p; 45 7 40.25 & nbsp; 4 47 G Turner NZ 41 40 6 1598 171* 3 &n bsp; 9 1 39.95 5 45.18 J Kallis SA 217 208&nb sp; 37 7726 139   ; 13 54 11 &nbs p; 37.14 8 45.03 G Greenidge WI 128 127 13 &nb sp; 5134 133* 11 &nbs p; 31 3 40.43 & nbsp; 2 44.9 B Dippenaar SA &nb sp; 83 71 12 &n bsp; 2649 123 2   ;22 2 37.31 7 44. 62 D Jones Aus 164 161&nb sp; 25 6068 145   ; 7 46 6 37.69 6 44.56 S Tendulkar Ind 352 34 3 33 13815 186*  ; 38 71 15 &nbs p; 40.28 3 44.53 R Sarwan WI 87 82 20   ; 2761 104* 2 & nbsp; 16 4 33.67 &nbs p; 11 44.37 M Clarke Aus 57 51&nbs p; 13 1686 105*   ; 2 10 4 33.06 12 FROM HERE u KNOW THE BEST ARE ZAHEER , GREENRIDGE,SACHIN,TURNER & RICHARDS . Yes averages are important , but we also need to check the no of runs scored/inn !!!!!!!
