Tendulkar part 3
by Mahi Reddy on May 24, 2005 09:03 AM

I have to strongly disagree with the view of Nayan Mongia....He may be a cricket lifer, but.....

Being a fatherly figure is just a nice way of saying that Tendulkar has lost the fire....Is that true?...Hard to say...

The reason that someone is a leader is because they are willing to take the blame for the misfortunes of the team and to take the praise when the team succeeds....When the game is on the line, the leader becomes the go to guy. Tendulkar at 19 was that person....For the most part, he has always been that person....The responsibility is to score runs when the team is down....Everybody has to do their part with whatever talent they have....Leaders don't put responsibility on the young bucks to carry the team; they put the team on their shoulders and carry the others.

Maximum strength, speed and power won't make a champ but will only enhance the abilities of those with the talent to be champs....Not one member of the Indian Team has done all that they can do to fulfill their genetic potential....In a different but related subject, if India were any good at this, then they would be winning gold medals....Can't even win in field hockey anymore. Game has left them behind

Tendulkar part 2
by Mahi Reddy on May 24, 2005 08:51 AM

If Tendulkar has to bat more conservatively because 'the situation of the game dictates it', what does that say about the talent of the rest of the team?

The team should be able to prevent runs from being scored by playing better and more aggressive defense...They shouldn't be afraid to stop the ball with their body and get their uniforms dirty, if necessary...

If Tendulkar has the ability to bat more aggressively and produce runs, that is what needs to be done....Scoring runs and preventing the other team from scoring runs are the most important thing.

How come Zaheer Khan basically is the only person who can bowl at a fast pace?....India has a billion people and many love cricket....How come India is unable to capitalize on their human potential?....How come there is no one who can effectively and consistently play at a high level the way Tendulkar has?.....

India does not have the personnel to play an attacking style of cricket the way the Australians can....Why? The Aussies are physically superior to the Indians....Does it have to be that way?.....No, it doesn't.....

So what do the Indians have to do.....Train for speed, explosiveness and power.

Tendulkar

There is no reason why Tendulkar cannot continue to play at his old level..

If he continues to do what he is doing when he is not playing cricket, then he will show a precipitous drop in performance....

For those who embrace training for strength, speed and power in the offseasons, 40 is quickly becoming the new 30, insofar as superstar talent players are concerned.

He probably needs to find someone top-level in the United States to take him back to his old level....Maybe Mark Verstegen of Athletes Performance in Tempe, Arizona....He has trained a lot of elite athletes and has a stellar reputation.

For someone like Tendulkar to have tennis elbow just goes to show how much effort he has put into offseason training....

Needs to reduce bodyfat and improve strength in the core region and lower body....

Mind games

All these ex-cricketers are jealous of Sachin's achievement and do not want him to achieve more. If Adam Gilchrist can be at his peak at 34 why Not Tendulkar at 32. This whole slowing talk is bull-shit by vested interests who do not want to see Tendulkar go down in History as the greatest ever.
