About World Class Left handed batsman Mr. Lara the great of West Indies
by Ramachandran Iyer on May 25, 2005 10:45 AM

I am a thorough viewer of World Cricket whether it is Test Cricket or ODIs. Though I did not played much cricket in National level as well as State level, but I have played in Club Cricket with alround performances.
I have seen lot games of the Great Lara in Test Matches as well as ODIs, who has served the West Indies more than a decade with single handedly won matches for West Indies. I believe he can serve the West Indies another half a decade. I heard that he is always put his 101% effort for his team. A calm and sobor nature Biren Lara, give him mental strength to rebuild good innings for his Great West Indies team and as an individual. I wish him all the best.

WI look to lara for inspiration

West Indians cricket does not have its problems for inspiration. It is rather application. The West Indies batsmen failed to make enough runs for its bowlers to defend. The batsmen have to put up more that 350 runs whenever it goes to bat. Unfortunately the batsmen are not showing me the confidence of doing that. In layman terms they are not being consistent.

With Lara coming into the team it will definitely mean that the team can look for some stability in the batting department. Because there has been many times when Lara has carried his bat with the tail, scored tons of runs and at the end ended up being in the loosing side.

With Lara in the team and provided other batsmen bating along with him we can expect that they can draw the test series against Paksistan.

I do not expect West Indies to win the series ahead because the West Indies bowlers are going to struggle to take 20 wickets in a match. And currently after getting severely thrashed by South Africa and Pakistan in the recently concluded one day series against West Indies. The confidence of their bowlers will be in all time low, going into the test series with Pakistan.
