chappell is an excellent choice

its an excellent work by the bcci to appoint greg chappell as the indian coach. i think in a country like india where people are mad about cricket such an experienced player will suit to the indian team as well as the people. i'm sure that he would raise india from its current form to the level at which india will be able to win the world cup.i believe that he will give positive results at the end of his term as the coach of india.

Chappell's appointment as coach of Indian cricket team
by Ravi Siddani on May 20, 2005 08:49 PM

Hi.

I have read the responses of the former Indian cricketers and I agree with their approval of Greg Chappell as the coach. But I disagree that an Indian would do the job better, just because he/she is Indian. I also disagree with Dilip Vengsarkar's comment that he should be "asked" to manage the India "A" side. If he has to do additional work, he should be remunerated for the same. And this holds even if the coach was an Indian. Bring professionalism in! That is the only way to excellence. The fact that the selectors are not paid is the root cause for the inconsistency in selection. If these are paid jobs, then they are accountable and will always select the best side, or be fired! So let us pay the coach for every service that he renders. Don't expect him to do two jobs for the pay of one.
