Chappell is the 'Wright' replacement
by Agnel Pereira on May 22, 2005 03:51 PM

Jimmy, we all love you for what you have done for Indian cricket. We also welcome your balanced reaction. Sadly, in today's hitech world, there may not be much scope for a natural and tough cricketer like you, compared with guys who can analyse the game on the computer. Having said that, though I have believed that an Indian should be the coach of the national team (I am sure Sandeep Patil will become, one day), Greg Chappell is perhaps the best in business right now. He is rightly the best choice. Time will surely tell. I am not so sure what he will do to bring out the best in our bowlers though.

Strangely though, John Wright, a Rahul Dravid fan, coached when Saurav Ganguly was the captain. And now we have Greg Chappell, a Ganguly fan, all set to coach the Indian team which is most likely to have Dravid as the captain in the next few years, unless Chappell can work wonders with Ganguly's form. That will be the biggest challenge for Greg.

Mohinder has some real luck
by Arnab Bose on May 21, 2005 09:08 PM

Mohinder Amarnath has got some real luck as he has been considered for the post of the national coach for the Indian cricket team. After his tirade against Ganguly for being the only person responsible for the slow over rate, it seems like farce that he was allowed an extra hour to make his presentation. That too after having a much younger substitute runner.
It is obvious from his earlier comments against Ganguly (the great!!) that he does carry a bias against him. After this time-taking exercise (1.5 hour presentation) by him, does he have any advice for Ganguly ? Now that Chappell must be getting ready to deliver his sermon to Team India, We'll, probably, have to wait for "Jimmy and Jammy" which was very much predictable. Maybe he'll be asked to go GAA GAA and do his Song and dance sequence for the Junior cricket team of India. Will he combine it with some Thumkas? THUM... THUM....
