How many times have we seen helpless Prasad with drooping shoulders and clueless eyes!!! must be half of the matches he played! He was a good 5th bowler. Now he wants to be the bowling coach!! God save my country.
Dravid is no doudt a great player and one of the best batsman in the cricketing world. But this does not qualify us to state that "we should start moving beyond Ganguly and think Dravid to be the next captain". Any Team be it a top fortune 500 company or a Cricket Team need three types of people to succeed. One type of people are vital operational performers, second type are the experts / advisors and finally the most important types are the visionary .. one who could think what and how to take the team to the next level.
In my opinion, Sehwag, Kaif, Yuvraj, Balaji, Zaheer , Irfan , Bhajji are some of the vital performers with guys like Sachin, Kumble and Dravid taking the responsibilities of experts and advisors in the various departments of Batting and Bowling. But it should be noted that it has been the vision and the out of the box thinking of Ganguly (armed with the support of the advisors) which had taken this team to the next competitive level.
Ganguly is indispensible as he knows how to keep the team together, how to nurture and support players like Sehwag, Yuvraj and he has the GUT to intensify the passion in this team to be a champion team.
How does Prasad conclude that Sourav Ganguly cannot gell with the new coach? Going by his logic, if Dravid is made captain, he also has to gell with the new coach.It seems that Prasad knows about who is to become the new coach and that Dravid has worked under him already. Stupid comment by Prasad and reflects regional bias
