Nice observation!!!
by Ritesh Agarwal on Mar 28, 2005 07:42 AM

I commend Mr. Ashish Magotra for pointing out the most interesting observation for the readers. That there are three outcomes possible from this match as of now, namely Pakistan winning, a draw or India winning. I am sure nobody could have drawn such an outstanding outcome of the game. I mean this is so amazing. I ask other readers if they could have drawn such a conclusion. It's impossible. Mr. Ashish Magotra you are Antrayami, you're great. Where were you all the time? I want to ask you if you would come and work for me.
-Ritesh

Irfan Pathan and Balaji should have done their homework before bowling to ShahidAfridi.Surely,Shahid Afridi could not blast Glenn Mcgrath or Shaun Pollock in a similar situation.Afterall, only a part time bowler like Sachincould rein in the situation. That means he had made a plan beforehand.

India's chances to win: Mathematically.
by Naveen Bakshi on Mar 28, 2005 07:16 AM

The sum of batting averages of Indian cricket team is "380", which means that the according to the law of averages, India should score 380 runs in an innings. However, there are several other factors that influence an innings score such as pitch, weather conditions, pressure, heat, weather etc.
Therefore i calculated the Standard Deviation of the Indian Batting Averages which is approximately 18.31.

According to the mathematical principles of statistics:
66% of the Time, India should score between 362 and 398.

95% of the time, India should score between 342 and 416.

99% of the time, India should score between 325 and 434.

Therefore, the lowest Score india would get statistically is 325, and highest it could ever get is 434.

Could India score 383???????

Can Viru guide India to victory...
by Madhav on Mar 28, 2005 01:30 AM

It all depends on him and mostly him and Gambhir..

If the see off early morning overs and see thr lunch India can very well overhauls the Pak total.

Unfortunately India just have 5 recognized batsmen. Viru , Dravid, Sachin and Laxman. Gambhir and Ganguly togeter are 1 batsman.

Expecting any thing over 15 runs from Gangly is fay dreaming.

Please stop this guy to write about cricket. He simply tries to copy
Prem Panikaer and fail miserably. Although he has improved since last
couple of year but still not upto the standard set by Rediff.
He should be dispensed with as ASAP.
And please bring back the Faisal....

Dear Sir,
This is nagarjuna.
As if i came to know from u r reports,
1. U don't have any faith on indian batting Line up.
2. On what basis u make a statement that Pakistan will win the match?
3. On which criteria India has very faint chances of winning a match?
4. I think u might have known that its unpredictable game, ok.
so, iam not coinside with u r comments, ok.

Thanks with regards,

THIAGARAJAN
Gangulys inability
by THIAGARAJAN on Mar 27, 2005 05:10 PM

its very ridiculous to see the pathetic batting of so called captain ganguly.as a captain he should set an example instead he got out to poorest of shots which shows total irresponsiblity.once if u r not able to connect well u should give way to talented players from 14man squad.from this position if india loses the whole responsibility is on ganguly alone.even while bowling no attacking field was set up.they were just toying with kumble and harbajan

very smart reporting (pun intended)
by Vijay Paliwal on Mar 27, 2005 02:10 PM

How smart of your reporter to have identified that three results are possible in this test....Pak Win, Draw or India Win!!!! Hats off!!

Here is what your reporte wrote:

"As of now, three results are possible. Pakistan can win (that seems the most obvious result), the game can meander into a draw, and there is a very, very faint chance of India winning."
