Left-arm spinner needed
by Srini on Mar 16, 2005 04:21 AM

A left-arm spinner might be the best bet to cut the tail short. A full-time left-arm spinner would be a great asset to the team. In the current scenario, a part-timer like Yuvraj, Dinesh Mongia, Sriram or Rohan Gavaskar might do the trick. Also, Nehra and/or SS Paul definitely deserve a chance to play after their domestic exploits. Giving Ganguly a break from captaincy might do him good, though he has definitely lead the side admirably. And yes, Indians are yearning to see Dravid's mind at work. Hope the selectors are listening!!

C'mon guys..play for India...not for u
by Prasad on Mar 15, 2005 09:26 PM

first of all, like all other Indians, I am a biiiiig fan of Indian Cricket...but i completely agree Matty Hayden's comments where he said "players in the sub-continent play for self-records"...thats right when we see the performance of Sachin, Sourav and Laxman in the Mohali Test vs. PAK...I dont understand why sachin does this, but lately, he is playing for himself rather than for India...commmon, he has got 34 hundreds and he is not playing his last innings..then why should he slow the scoring rate...as the stats indicated he took more than 40 balls to go from 80 to 94...man this is ridiculous...and obviously Sourav and Laxman are playing for their "solid" position in the team...i strongly feel, our guys has to learn a lot from AUS and start playing for India rather than for their personal records...we need more Sehwags who dont really care personal records and who had ghuts to reach 300 with a big SIX...

All seems like street expert
by Sandeep on Mar 15, 2005 05:21 PM

Hi All ,
Nice that now everybdy cud hear the expets voice -- not wrong as in India everybdy think himself as cric expert and I mean it he indeed is -- No joke at all ..
but still in light of things , I wud like to comment on comments by fellow readers and art in rediff -- Frst of all India dint lacked killer instinct ( this word is used nowadayss by everybdy ) , oe who had seen this match the end day wud definately sy that the iNdians were fightin like anything -- they were hngry , desperate and bleive that they win ( this is wat killer instinct ) -- But paki took it away as pitch ewased out ( no credit lost to the players ) -only people who say this are who ue others line and article while discussin these issues

now comment on 5- 5 - 1 format - i dont think thats gonna work intest -- 5 bats man mean u had along tail and everybdy in streets od india knows that once tail starts it gonna finish up in 1/2 hr ..

I always beleive we had menzz like wall ,sach , kumble ,sehwag to give valuable advice ( whom to play or not ) -- in hindsight all seems wrong - but its all on the spur of he moment -- will players of these calibre alng with captian hd any leess mind space than u ??

Got it
