DISTURBING TREND
by MADHU on Mar 11, 2005 12:35 PM

This trend has been noticeable for a while. Off the top of my head, I can recall the B'lore test against Aussies and matches against SA and BD, when inexplicably, the so-called best line up went into a shell and effectively shot themselves in the foot along with any hopes of winning (the one test that was drawn against SA). I recall the SA team management jeering that it was the Indian team that was adopting go-slow tactics... this is an inexplicable and self-defeating trend... cannot understand the mind set at all. Ganguly, a left hander, should have handled Kaneria easier than the righties, but no, his rate was the worst... It is high time we started forgetting people's records and looked at form. Given the current form, I cannot see why Kaif and Yuvi are sitting out??? Whatever you say about sachin, it is clear that the record is weighing him down. He has to clear his head and play his natural game... Laxman, karthik were very disappointing against this bowling line up. they seem to be playing for their places, rather than for the team. Only Balaji, this morning, as I write during the lunch break, lit up the surroundings with both bat and ball. Good show, Balaji.

Purpose
by Ajay on Mar 11, 2005 11:03 AM

India & more so Sachin played without any purpose at all. As soon as he crossed 50 , Sachin played with only 1 personal agenda / purpose to get to his 100. If Sachin had got his 35th Ton, I for one , would not have stood and applauded. The fact is that if Sachn was in the Australian team , he would have been dropped , not for his performance (which is great) but for his attitude.

Prem, i think you speak too much
by abhinav vishnu on Mar 11, 2005 08:31 AM

That is all i have to say
I think that is why we should not have too many people speaking too much. I mean sometimes i think you speak that much that it reminds me of "wise man have something to say, fools have to say something"

Indian Players on day3 played well!!
by venkat on Mar 11, 2005 08:30 AM

Perhaps, The one who has written this article should have played cricket instead of becoming a reporter.
Indian batsmen has played their game all over the innings. They were punishing the bad balls while defending the good balls...

idians want personal records
by varma on Mar 11, 2005 01:06 AM

hi,
our indian team needs personal records then any other thing, tendulkar wants to go past the records, lakshman wants to get his 50 to stabilise his place. they dont care what will happen to the team, as soon as shewag was out, it was a sudden change from a fantastic exciting cricket to a dull match. sachin who played so flamboyent drives when shewag was present, suddenly changed his game. i dont know what he was really trying to do?

weak link in the team
by vickram on Mar 11, 2005 12:40 AM

hi, i was so bored watching the last 2 sessions of the game , the way ganguly n tendulkar batted, it was no way near to international standards.. i can understand for tendulkar.. coming back from an injury in to test match without much match practice, but what excuse can ganguly give, for his schoolboy sort of batting?? he was absolutely out of sorts in negotiating any bowler.. even after getting 2 lifes he never seemed threatening.. if he wasnt tht confident abt his batting.. he could have sent vvs ahead of him.. whom most of the commentators and selectors treating as a weak link in indian batting... but chek the way he batted , with lot of pressure on him to keep his place in the team.. still looked at ease in negotiating bowlers , including the ever so threatening kaneria.. i think its the time for finding out the real weak link in indian time... to me one man clearly coming out... sourav ganguly... may be he is a good captain.. but if the selectors really want a strong team.. they should think about this weak link...

U dont play cricket!
And u dont know whats happening on the field if u think like a captain! In the given situation, Indian can comfortably beat Pak in the remaining two days!
Try to appreciate the effort soak down your crticisms!
just coz u know some gud words on the lexicon, dont go abt displaying them in a column irrelevantly!

I know many would not like this.Tendulkar has a larger share ,if India is in a complex situation. He slowed down the progress in the AN.Yet no commentator/writer or critic would criticise him.Every body talks of the missed 35th hundred only.
