Changes are justified
by Ashish on Jun 28, 2005 01:47 PM

The changes proposed for the ODIs are definitely in the right spirit & would make the game less predictable & more interesting for sure. The captains would tend to use the 5 over blocks (field restrictions) more towards the end of innings. Overall these changes have to be done, coz innovation is the name of the game !

new game plan

the introduction of this concept is sure to make odi more intresting and the captain and coach should come with many gameplans before taking on the field.this will make matches full of twists and turns and full of surprises.

Pathetic on bowlers
by ram on Jun 28, 2005 01:40 PM

Well line and length, wicket to wicket bowling are the things u here in each cricket match i feel it is more pressure on the bowlers, doesnt this rule favour the batsman more??
Well i think Mr.Fannie divillers record of economy rate will be alive for a long long time...

game plan?!?! no plan.
by RamS on Jun 28, 2005 01:39 PM

if a team reads the pitch 'n conditions wrong, they have the chance 2 correct that. say the ball isn't swingin enuff for the pace bowler, he can be replaced by a spin bowler. a player like mohd kaif would help save runs with his fielding 'n if he is incapable of big hittin, another player can replace him in the chase. if it turns out tht karthick is a better keeper than dhoni, he could keep wickets 'n dhoni can come in and open the innings. well the statistician wil sure have a tough time now! 'n if the game is goin 2 b more favourable to batsmen then ideally v can jus have machines bowl rather than players who strive so hard and are prone to injuries! anyways, tis a wait 'n watch scenario right now.

i personally think that change must be accepted. however, there must be na understanding that the teams would take some time to adjust to the method such as this. hope this would continue till the wc2007 and we have a great wc to see.

well i think this rule will bring a new breeze of freash air in the short version of game but i think for 6-months or a year teams will find it difficult to adjust in the new one day format

new iic regulations
by suhas on Jun 28, 2005 01:27 PM

i feel this wonderful game of cricket deserved a fresh breath of air.

the game was getting too predictable and monotonous with the first 15 over field restriction. now there will be some sense of unpredictability and surprise.

As far as the substitution rule is concerned , it is good beacuse the bench strength now can be put to some good use, especially the aussies, who will be most excited about the above rule.

lets wait and see how the captains now implement these two changes in their own little ways.

all the best

regards

suhas
