Target the Aussie batsmen and they wilt
by pervin on Jun 20, 2005 01:30 AM

The Aussie bowling now certainly lacks penetration and the batting looks like they can never get a 300 score in the near future. England should now go for the kill. The motto is 'attack' as the success has demonstrated.

The Aussie batsmen now have known weaknesses against the rising ball off the deck. Ponting has revealed an inability to perform under pressure and the England bowlers should target the Aussie skipper for both some bowling and verbal onslaught. A lost Ashes should see Gilchrist back as captain. The team seems to be performing better under him rather than Ponting who has mostly seen easy times and made the most of them by accumulating runs against moderate attacks.

When the times were good this team managed to camouflage its weaknesses. Not anymore. England has the firepower and the cockiness to expose all gaps in the Aussie ability. We might now see some Aussie batsmen playing for their place in the side rather than for winning.

Keep it up Kevin. And England awaits a Flintoff explosion too. A lot is likely to happen for England, if they keep mounting the pressure, which is a welcome sign for world cricket.
