Discipline

Greg Chappel.......Go ahead and induce discipline.....if u take up the matter with the selectors and drop Sachin and Saurov, half of your job is accomplished........U can find the discipline among the rest of the players automatically....Make the entire team unit to work hard like Australians..........batting, fielding, running etc.
U are the best judge and ensure, Indians bring the next World Cup, as Aussies depend solely on Mcgrath, Gillespe and Kasprowitch, who have started ageing !!!

We need more
by Nikhil on Jun 10, 2005 02:15 AM

Hi,
I think the Indian selection board needs to do more hiring. We need Australian bowlers and batsman, along with Australian coach..why can't we hire them too.

Everything will be perfect then, foreign team players and foreign coach. We will all be happy..esp the selection board. I will play "tennis ball-cricket" with Sachin and Ganguly..it will be so much fun :)

Chappells task cut out ?
by Akash Gupta on Jun 09, 2005 08:49 PM

Sachin is having a bad time with the willow ,but one cannot rule out the mastereo yet;Yes ..he has dropped from being the century maker to the 50's maker .Definately Shewag has taken his place as the guy with the highest probability to hit centuries in a ODI or atleast play matchwinning knocks and other players need to rally around him.Having said that ,Sachin with his experince and a little prodding from the management should be further down in the batting line up in the ODI's aka Inzi.It would do India's fickle middle order a world of good .We do have Dhoni and Yuvraj who could take Sachin's place at the top.And Mr Chappel could do well to make the players understand the value of their place in the team, senior or otherwise. There should be no free lunches in Team India. It is not a feifdom ..some players and their zonal selectors ensure that meritocracy is not a parameter in selection? What say Mr.Coach ?

Discipline...the key
by N.V.Krishna on Jun 09, 2005 08:16 PM

Not only discipline even courage is needed especially for the selectors in selecting the teams,if any stars repeated do not perform they need to be dropped ,that's the only way they can build a team with a vision where team comes before player. They must take a point out of Australia---one series at home lost and a player of the stature of Steve Waugh was dropped as player and captain inspite of heavy criticism.
If you compare that with India...we are losing almost to everyone....to pakistan, australia, new zealand, srilanka, england and even bangladesh. And there is not even a talk to drop Ganguly by any of the selectors....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We should start hunting another Sachin
by Abhijeet Nirmal on Jun 09, 2005 05:53 PM

Mr Chappell is very happy after the selection. But his idea about the Indian team strength is just like a layman. Fielding and bowling is an area for concern! but in the same time batting is also a concern mr. Chappell. So in this way whole strength is a matter of concern.

We all know that India's batting is best on paper and bowling is not good. But in the last few big matches we always lost because of lack of batting performance. Our batting collapse if there is a wall of run.

So it is the time that Mr. Chappell should start realising that India team need some dynamic youngster batsmen and bowler. the time of Kumble and Harbhajan have passed. Saching need to take long rest and we should start hunting a new Sachin and Sehwag.

No doubt sachin is great, then saurav is also great, then all are great then what we will keep them as a decorating item. No we need the performer.
