The concept of Team India is much wider than the eleven on the field !
by Dr. Cajetan Coelho on Jul 16, 2005 10:52 AM

For many of us it is becoming clearer day by day that the concept of Team India is not only six batsmen, four bowlers and one wicketkeeper against the rest of mankind. Mr.Gregory Chappell is drilling into the players, fans and the media some fundamental tools for thinking big and realistic which one feels is within our enormous capacities to imbibe. Such fresh thinking is certainly required to remain focussed, positive, constructive and creative. Australia the leading sports nation in the world has it in plenty and one sees it when they take on the best in the world of sports be it cricket, rugby, soccer, hockey, tennis. Once initiated to dream big we will be able to perform to our potential and get the results befitting our stature and talents. Fans, knowledgeable former sportspersons, selectors and the media are certainly an important component of this all encompassing concept called Team India. We need to back up the available talent in our country in whatever field it may be and hope for the best. Meanwhile we appreciate the efforts Mr.Gregory Chappell is making to see our cricketers with Thinking Caps on.Thinking Caps will help all to sharpen our reflexes for positive results.

Chappall's baseless allegations
by Ravichandran.B on Jul 15, 2005 11:24 AM

Chappall has no right to slam the media for repeatedly asking him about the team's killer instinct. He must remember the fact that it is the electronic media which only promoted Cricket and Cricketers to the present dizzy heights. It is media who hail our Indian Cricketers even when they score against weak oppositions like Bangladesh or Zimbabwe or Kenya.Take the case of Saurav Ganguly. His 50 + score in County Cricket corners attention in Newspaper headlines but we all know that it doesn't take much to score in County Cricket. While a Pankaj Advani's success in International Level is relegated to side lines, Sachin's tennis elbow is printed in bold letters because it is Media who sells Cricket and help Cricket to reach millions of people in all walks of life.Great teams, players & Coaches learn from mistakes and this way only they've risen to World Class outfits/performers.A Roger Federer was losing to Hewitt & other little known players but once he realized his shortcomings, he is hailed as the best and even better than Sampras.By admitting the fact that Indian Cricketers are not strong mentally, will only help Chappall to improve on it.If I don't admit, how I'm going to improve?

Greg is Right

Did any one of these media fellows bother to go and ask "what happened to the Killer Instinct" when Australians lost some matches in England including one to Bangladesh?

For most of these new recruits 'Killer Instinct' is asking what ever they think is a great Question!
