it is good that government had aloted the land for the purpose of starting a cricket acadamy . but what happened to AZHARUDDINS dream of putting up an acadamy which would have been on par of the great Australian Cricket Acadamy .
So should we think that all the record of the great player ( sultan of wrist flick's ) will be burried .
I am from calcutta... This fact is not hidden from anyone that the land allotted for a 'noble cause' of setting up a cricket academy (!) by ganguly (da) is just an eyewash. The land or money allotted will NEVER ever be used for 'welfare' purposes and the income from such institutions will be pocketed by the already filthy rich ganguly and co. is he so poor that he can't afford one ? also where was he when he, as a celebrity and star had a moral duty to donate for the tsunami affected people. (perhaps he was busy shooting for the next big commercial on TV). ah... and someone please don't tell me he donated 2-3 lacs (that's no amount for him, considering he earns a few crores for each ad campaign he does).
thanks and write to me at kundanbhaduri@rediffmail.com
My request to Ganguly will be -let this not be another money churning run of the mill cricket academies of Kolkata ala Sunny Gavaskar's academy, Arun Lal's academy or Ashok Malhotra's academy or similar academies thriving on parents' dream of producing another Ganguly from Kolkata, in their sons. But that is not the case as Kolkata has no talent in near sight who can think of even making it to the Indian team, leave alone emulate Ganguly.
Since Ganguly is thinking of having the likes of Greg Chappel (perhaps the world's best batting coach) as a visiting faculty and he himself has become a legend, he should only encourage and entertain talent in the academy, money should be secondary in nature.
Ganguly's cricket academy should be like an IIT or IIM of Indian cricket academies.
