Bedi's chucking veiws
by Fazal on Mar 03, 2005 03:22 PM

Here Bedi goes again, the man who quite recently asked John Buchanan, whether the Aussie team made him or vice versa. Funny how all bedi's comments are directed at a spinner from the emerald island, has he not heard the recent news that his own countryman and fellow sheik harbhajan is getting to play the currant Pakistani series only because of the new rule,

And when everybody else agree that all bowlers would seem to be chucking, and also that most bowlers of yesteryear would have been seen to chuck, with the old laws in place, provided the technology of today was available at time.

Who knows bedi himseld might have "chucked" especially since new research seem to suggest that great bowlers of yore Richard Hadlee, Imran Khan etc. straightened their arms.

The problem with bedi is that you Indians dont give him respect for what he was, and the poor chap is clamoring for the glory of old on all fours, remember the John Buchanan comment.

And the records of todays spinners are much better than what bedi and co could put out, although the argument remains that toadys spinners get to bowl at some weak batsmen on the other hand they dont get the same dustbowls

Bowling (Throwing!) controversies
by Varadarajan on Mar 03, 2005 12:22 AM

I agree with Bedi's views about the throwing controversies.
We know some of the fast bowlers are not bowling with illegal action always. If they want to bowl an extra effort ball(s), they use this throwing methods. Once the damage is done they will go back to their normal actions.

How can you detect such actions separately.
They can always bowl genuinly when they are being tested.
In my opinion Umpiers (leg Umpire) are the best judge and not the machines,

I suggest that the viewers should alowed to see the bowling action of the bowlers from the opposite end, so that people watching the game are also able to judge the bowling action of the bowlers.

no spine?
by AN on Mar 01, 2005 02:30 AM

Funny, coming from the man who did not have the spine to face up to fast bowling, and hence declared the innings when he was captain of india! He speaks as if he was the epitome of sportsmanship, while the fact remains that when he had to face the "fury", he ran off!

Chuckers have a ball!
by Dr T S Raman on Feb 25, 2005 07:46 AM

Next, bring out a new rule that a bowler will be allowed to overstep up to 15 inches, and it will not be called a no-ball.

Bedi's comments.
by Vinod sahasrabuddhe on Feb 24, 2005 11:35 PM

What Bedi is saying absolutely corrct and the new law is nothing but a nonsense created to accomodate the bowlers with suspicious action. And the worst is that they are compared with greats of yesteday, (like the For great shown in the picture with absolutely clean action.) and these bowlers with suspicious action break records left and right.
as before once called for throw and reported he should be out that is it. but now a days it is all money that controls
