We have an opportunity to put on our best behaviour !
by Dr.Cajetan Coelho on Feb 26, 2005 12:02 PM

The forthcoming Indo-Pak cricket series in our country is an excellent opportunity for us to put on our best behaviour. Not so long ago we were told by many that our Indian players and Indian spectators enjoyed excellent hospitality across the border. It is certainly a fine chance for us to display our kind-hearted nature and our true Indian authentic hospitality loaded with care and concern for each and every visiting dignitary from Pakistan. On this momentous and historic occassion let us wish well for one another. Thanks to Rediff for the fine write up on the eve of an important series. We wish John Wright and Team India well in their preparations.

Indo-Pak series

"There were problems before, people had bitter memories of partition," said Lahore tour operator Imran Qadir. "But we're the new generation, we have no such issues with India."

The above statement essentially captures the essence of the relationship...I dont think our generation should pay for something that we have not been affected by.

True history can repeat itself but knowledge of history also means that one should be prepared to counter this problem.

Lets try and build bridges over the scars of the past.

We must give them a treat.
by Mohammed on Feb 22, 2005 12:09 PM

Hi,

We have to give all Pakistanis a good treat when they visit here. As we got a nice response from them when we visited Pakistan. Be calm and take a win or defeat in a positive way.

I live aboad. And the kind of responses coming before the tour are not showing healthy signs. We have to show the world that we also respect them and can behave nicely as Pakistanis did.

TO ALL INDIANS: BROTHERS, PLEASE DON'T LET US DOWN.

Indo-Pak Cricket etc
by C D Pereira on Feb 22, 2005 12:06 PM

Let us not go overboard by cricket rhetoric!
2.Play the game in a sporting manner & a competetive spirit.May the crowds be encouraged to to show a good sporting conduct.
3.Let the Law & Order dept. act effectively against the lumpens who may attempt to spoil the show.If pseudo political radicals raise their head they should be stopped in their tracks & taken into custody for the entire tour duration, while the captives should be subject to forced labour to clean & spruce up the next match venue.
4.Let the Managers act with maturity on gracious hospitality, & not make public statements like how our team was fed "a lot of mutton "etc, while in Pak & the like.
5.Give their members some memorable gifts in goodwill.
6.Above all let our press act in a mature way & cover the series sensibly & never overdo.
Good-Luck Team India

We need to reciprocate
by Kapil Khattar on Feb 22, 2005 10:57 AM

Indeed. We heard stories and stories about how each Indian was treated generously by pakistanis last year.

Now it is our turn to reciprocate. We should ensure that pakistanis feel at home and at peace so that they are able to enjoy the tour and India both.

These Shiv Sainiks should just mind their business and let us mind ours. They have no right to spoil a good tour. it is time they learnt something from the way Indians were welcomed by pakistanis.

Hope this tour heralds yet another positive era for Indo-Pak cricketing ties.

Cheers,
Kapil
