why should they piggy back on our revenues ?
by rayker on Dec 23, 2005 12:12 PM

our national interests should be firm! let the ICC go to hell. look for whats in our country's interest. its not that we are alone when it comes to a national sport and passions. why should the people of the nation suffer or be held at a ransom each time theres a tournament - for a few businesses ? its a great move by the government, and we should resist too much commercialisation.

There is nothing called free lunch and Prasar Bharti and GoI should understand it. I think that the decision to share the sports feed with state broadcaster is good one, but in lieu of that either the Govt. or Prasar Bharti should pay the Sports authorities like IHF, BCCI, IOA, AIFF etc some substantial amount running in tens of crores whether or not any sporting event occurs. It will help Prasar Bharti to act responsibly like an enterprise and also help sports authorities with good necessary funding which is urgently required.

Why should our money feed outsiders
by dipankar on Dec 23, 2005 12:00 PM

Stop all outgo immediately. If some other country's cricket board cannot generate revenue and survive then let them shut down. Our money is not free for all and specially not for outsiders.

It is the fundamental right of a soverign republic to decide how and to what extent its citizens should benefit from the worldwide sports events. After all, Indian is only following what other countries have already implemented. It has become a fashion for ICC to meddle in anything and everything bypassing the freedom of choice and expression of the free world.

Indian cricket is one of the big contributories to ICC exchequer. India attracts huge spectator turnot wherever they play. Not only the cricket governing body but also its players get a raw deal at the hands of ICC.
