Staying up 5 nights to watch India-Pak
by Manu Kohli on Dec 25, 2005 09:14 PM

this message is for Prem and all the others like me who wanna watch the india-pak games (and other cricket games in the future) India - Pakistan series is going to be on Dish Network. Invest in a DVR from them. for the future get a DirecTV dvr also because they have rights to games played in England, Australia and West Indies. I think Dish has exclusive rights to Pakistan home games.

I have one of each(the DirecTV one is just for cricket) and its the best thing that has ever happened to me. Dont miss anything i wanna watch and skip through commercials. Also the Dish Network one has a 30 second skip button that is perfect for speedwatching cricket games. 3 skips between overs and if you time it right 1 skip between deliveries for the boring (sic.) middle overs. a whole day\'s worth in about 2.5 hours. Its perfect for someone that does not have 6-7 hours a day to watch cricket outside of their regular schedule.

Now get a DVR, avoid the urge to check cricket scores at work, and above all avoid all indians at work, there is no way there can be more than 1 Indian who did not check the score and will not want to discuss it.

Pawar proved to be a chicken!.
by Alex on Dec 24, 2005 09:00 PM

Pawar is aligning with Ganguly to save his arse. I really think he is playing double game. If ganguly plays well in pakistan , he will say its all because of him. And he become gangulys new GOD father. If ganguly fails then he will wash his hands off.

The only headache is Chappell and Dravid has to deal with Tendulkar choker and ganguly's temper tantrum.

I am going to support pakistan against INDIA. I also see Fat kid Parthiv patel getinto team through back door.

If india wins well, they deserve every bit of it. If they lose then it is because Tendulkar choker and Ganguly screw up. I predict Dravid loses his captaincy at end of pakistan series!. Ganguly back as captain and greg chappell resigns!.

Greg chappell probably shaking his head with indian of selecting TEAM.He wanted to be coach of this messy TEAM.

Thats all my prediction as of now.

Alexk

Credentials of Prem Panicker
by Prof. C. Kole on Dec 24, 2005 07:43 AM

May I know the data for the followings from Mr. Prem Panicker:
1. How many tests and international ODs he has played?
2. How many runs he made with the batting average?
3. How many wickets he did take?
4. How many catches did he take?
5. Did he have any right to comment on persons who led India, played for India in more tests/ODIs than him?

Just a thought!!!!!!!!1
by Dr Vishal on Dec 24, 2005 02:26 AM

SA : Hi Prem, What makes you an authority on cricket? Have you played any good cricket? Just wanted to know your crciekting background. Ni hard feeling.
Prem Panicker : None, mate. I have vague memories of hitting my sister's bowling out of the home and into the neighbor's window, but that's about it. I've also covered elections without ever having contested them; interviewed prime ministers without ever having been one, and so on :-)By way of aside -- isn't it curious that we never ask what qualifications an ex-crickter has to be a journalist?

This was one of the discussion points...........
i just want to clarify the statement made here...
i havent seen any cricketers being journalists in any other field other than cricket...
But the journalists comment on everything even though they dont have first hand knowledge of the concerned subject

Sourav and Sachin
by Pramod on Dec 23, 2005 09:52 PM

One thing I really dont understand is why are people comparing sachin and ganguly, especially the last 25 ODI's. Its because of selectors that ganguly is not in the team and not becuase of sachin. If you compare like that I think even sehwag and kaif will have low scores compared to ganguly.

Ganguly is the guy who started all the politics and he is facing it now. All the players backed by ganguly (Harbajhan, Zaheer) lacked discipline. He captaincy was good but not anymore. He may be a very good player but lacks discipline which is a must for every player.

Change in flavor!
by R.Kapoor on Dec 23, 2005 09:21 PM

It is interesting to note that Prem has become a yankee and an Aussie at the same time in his response. It has been over a year since I last used MTA and the 3-day strike hardly made a dent. I also recall when he personified the situation when we had the blackout in 2003 and how he made home. But that is another matter.

I like his responses to some of the questions and, at the same time, some of those who asked them left me with an impression that their knowledge of cricket was as abysmal as mine. Be as it may, it was interesting chat.
