Agreed that justice has not done to Ganguly by dropping him, despite his scoring none too badly in both the innings. But I do not understand what Wadekar is adovocating. Should there be a permanent place for anyone in the team? He says "as long as you are fit enough to get runs and fit enough to give guidance to the team then I think there should be no problem". What is wrong in this? As a matter of fact a player, if he is not able to deliver, should himself step down, as for millions of cricket fans, it is just not a sport, but something more than that. They link some amount of patriotism, pride everything into winning a match. Once the player feels, he is performing below par, he should himself gie rest, rather than waiting for to be kicked out!.
All said and done, dropping Ganguly at this time, is not in good taste. I fully agree on this point.
Dear Selectors, please i beg of you top make a new team india with the inclusion of ganguly, gavaskar, yashpal sharma, wadekar for their glorious past performances, lets live and die forever with their past performances
I hope Mr Harish Kotian is an journalist. It does not matter if he is sport journalist or not. Well he seems to be a die hard supporter of Gangully.
if i am correct then the basic duty of a journalist should be only to report facts.
Mr. Harish Kotian is trying too much in being judemental. let readers like us to decide what is right and what is wrong. Why we consider being selfish BAD?
If Indian cricket is looks selfish or acting bad in accepting Mr. Gangully(Ex hero), why/how its wrong?
Do Indian cricket has no rights in searching of better match winning player for replacement of non-performing bad players????
we need match winners. so what selecters are doing is for better for Indian cricket. let them do there job.
the manner in which gangully entered team( remember the level of politics played by him..) raises lots of questions about his intentions.
I am not a great fan of ganguly, but I expect the game should be played in the right spirit and played for winning cause. The sudden exclusion of gangly even after contributing to TEAM INDIA win in second test is a shock to me. Now I believe it is emergence of Second Dalmiya (MR. PAWAR) who can influence the exclusion and selection of cricketer with out any reasoning. We as a mad cricket lover should stand against it and support ganguly in this crises
I fully agree with the statements of Mr. wadekar except for one " Now Sachin has to be careful". No body in this earth can dare to touch him.He is not a soft target as that of Ganguly.Its pure a political decision.They wil have to think infinite times before giving this kind of treatment to sachin.Everybody knows this.Now, its time Mr Chappel get a kick on his back for applying the divide and rule policy. Ganguly was right in saying that it shows that the character of a person which says something else infront and doing something else in the background.Just a day back he had mentioned him as a mentor of the team.
