Rahul has already proved his batting ability many times & called 'The Wall' 'Mr.Dependable'. Also when Indian selectors are searching for a batsman-Wicket keeper he did the same for Ganguly's team India. Now he has shown that The wall can bare the pressure of captaincy also & One can say he is a Dependable captain who can lead India in the coming World Cup.
It is always a pleasure to read the comments of Sunil Gavaskar, since he is not only a cricketing legend but also an articulate and knowledgeable man. The original Little Master was absolutely right when he said that "most Indian cricket lovers have never understood the value of Rahul Dravid".
For the true Indian cricket lover, Rahul Dravid will rank as a greater Indian cricketer than Sachin Tendulkar with his 35 Test centuries. Dravid is the best idol for the young generation. He is dedicated and disciplined, and most important, he is aware of his limitations.
Rahul has shown that captaincy does not affect him and scoring freely in tests as well as one dayers. But still many people still have unfounded doubts - Is he a good batsman or a great batsman!

He is a master batsman in the world. He can score 12,000 runs in test cricket and one day criceket respectively. He is a gifted player. I rate him one of the top ten batsmen of all time gerat batsmen in world cricket

Those who still doubt Rahul\'s batting capabilities are biggest fools on this earth. I would rate Rahul slightly higher than Sachin as far as test cricket is concerned. The \'Wall\' has proven time & again that when it matters the most & when every other batsman fails, it is only him who digs out India out of trouble. Its high time Indian\'s come out of Sachin Mania & start accepting hard facts of cricket. Fan following should not be so blind that one forgets contributions of others who have consistently performed over the years for the nation. He is really our unsung hero. I feel sad when I read such things about his batting.
We should not forget he is averaging higher than Sachin in test cricket. He is consistency personified. KUDOS TO THE WALL.
