Why the poking and prodding by our 'great' batsmen??

Okay, we can't read too much into the 'famed' Indian batting's dismal performance at Chepauk. However, one cannot fail to notice the trend that the Indian batsmen tend to choke and go into a prolonged shell when a more positive approach would pay dividends. Recall the games against Australia and SA teams in the last series in India. Why is it that great players like Sachin, Dravid, Laxman and Saurav suddenly decide to down the shutters at 11 am in the morning, for God's sake? It has been extremely frustating and boring for the fans to watch them poking, prodding and patting half volleys back to the bowler... I feel Vaas was allowed to bowl 11 maidens by our lacklustre batting.... Wonder why these guys suddenly become over cautious.

Well, I hope they have learnt their lessons from watching Sangakara and Jayawardene bat on the same pitch. Also, the bowling from our 'boys' like Agarkar and Pathan has become too yo-yo like in consistency. They are like the proverbial boy who is very very good on one day and when he is bad, very very bad... Looks like complacency is setting in...

Selectors should not ignore Zaheer and Balaji for long. Also, have a look at VRV Singh, a real quick.

inept batting performance by Indians

If Srilankan could score at much more faster rate on the same pitch, why not indians? It was most dismal batting performance by all greats except Sewag and Dhoni. After all, nearly more than 3 days play was washed out, and no result was possible, the least Indians could have done is to score at brisk rate and entertain the few who were present. Australians always score at high rate and put presuure on the opponants, India will never ever learn from them.

Not the easiest pitch to play on? Well, somehow, the opposition did not think so.
