Give a nation Test match cricketing status and then take it back. Absurd! Zimbabwe faces this predicament, ostensibly, because of its despot Robert Mugabe. In the past South Africa has been at the receiving end for the practice of apartheid. What next? Ban UAE because it has oil, Holland for gay people or Australia for unsportsmanlike conduct?
When will we start separating sport from politics? Should Zimbabwe test/ ODI status be stripped for any reason whatsoever?
I think not.
What does one say to Dave Houghton, Andy Flower, Eddo Brandes and Heath Streak?
Is there another agenda? Some secretly believed that "the forces" delayed the South African entry back into the cricketing fraternity simply because they were too good. The Pollocks Graeme and Peter frittered away most of their cricketing years during this period. Also, who would have liked to face Allan Donald in his early years.
Looking at the Zimbabwe's state of affairs, it seems blasphemous to think that that is plausible. Is it because that some people secretly believe that non-colored cricketers are receiving the short end of the stick? Could that be a reason?
