Ashes have regained their glory
by Madhu on Aug 17, 2005 11:40 AM

After the one sided contest between England & Australia in the past two decades, people were writing off the Ashes as a contest anymore. India - Pak and India - Aus contests seemed to have more flair and seemed to enthuse the followers more.

With the recent contests, the English have bounced back very strongly. It has been a rivetting spectacle for cricket lovers.

Yes, the Ashes seem to be back on track as the most eagerly followed test series.

I hope the English come up with more such strong performances. It will be good for cricket and would also bring the Aussies down a couple of notches.

It was a fantastic test match

The Ashes has lived upto its expectations,or may b it has overtaken the expectations too!!! what a 2nd test,..2 run win for the English...then what a 3rd test...a draw which was not guaranteed till the last ball of the last day!!! well England have done a great job in coming so close 2 the mighty Aussies. They deserve something more than just a pat on their back. The aussies hve also proved their worth, their batting runs from 1 ,right down to 11 !!!!Other teams should learn from this series, its been an unbelievable series so far and its sure that this great onfield battle will continue for the next 2 tests too....
GOODLUCK AUSTRALIA AND ENGLAND!

Salute the Aussie spirit !!

Seldom has Aussies found themselves in such a dire situation & come out of it, by literally the skin of their teeth! I will not take any credit away from the Poms, who seem to have knit into a fighting outfit.
It would be rubbish to say Poms are second best team. At home , as the saying goes, even dogs are like Lions! Let them beat India, Pakistan, SL ,Aussies & then try the second best mantle!
Back to the Aussies, even the second test match they lost by sheer bad luck! After going the whole way to lose by just 2 runs! Again the Aussie pluck & spirit stands out. It seems (!?) the Aussie bowlers are getting predictable & at the same time matured as batsmen over the years! Whatever the case, McGrath , Gillespie Et al have only a few more years if at all & the Brett Lee's do not seem to measure up.
In comparison, recalling India's run chase against Lanka in the recent ODI final,I am left in no doubt that the current team barring a few exceptions, are absolutely spineless, spiritless & a good measure shameless too! Where is the pride in wearing India colours? Kaif, Dhoni, Pathan & Balaji are the few who seem capable of giving a fight. Yuvraj is too mercurial. If wishes were Horses!
